For special events, Mom and Dad always made this slush. Obtained from "Canadian Lutheran Ladies Family Favourites Cookbook" by Bethesda Lutheran from New Norway, Alberta.

4 cups sugar
7 cups water
6 oranges
6 lemons
48 ounces pineapple juice
4 cups pineapple, crushed
6 bananas, mashed

Steps:

  • You also need an empty 4 litre ice cream pail or other container.
  • Boil sugar and water.
  • Juice the oranges and lemons, mix with sugar water, banana, and pineapple, and freeze in an ice cream pail.
  • To serve by the glass, fill half the glass with slush and top with 7-up, ginger ale, or grapefruit pop.
  • Add vodka or fruit-flavored alcohol for fun.

This is a favorite recipe of my late mother-in-law's family, used for all celebrations.

4 ripe bananas
2 cups white sugar
3 cups water
1 (46 fluid ounce) can pineapple juice
2 (12 fluid ounce) cans frozen orange juice concentrate
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate
3 cups water
3 liters ginger ale

Steps:

  • In a blender, combine bananas, sugar and 3 cups water. Blend until smooth. Pour into a large bowl and stir in pineapple juice. Blend in orange juice concentrate, lemonade concentrate and 3 cups water. Divide into 3 plastic containers and freeze until solid.
  • Remove from freezer 3 to 4 hours before serving. Using one portion at a time, place slush in a punch bowl and pour in 1 liter of ginger ale for each.

1 1/2 cups crushed ice
1/4 cup honey
1 cup pineapple chunk
1/2 cup water (optional)

Steps:

  • Combine pineapple, honey and ice in blender.
  • Blend till smooth.
  • Add banana.
  • Blend until desired smoothness is reached.
  • You may have to stop blender to stir slushie.
  • Add water if needed.

This is a wonderful slush mix that everyone always wants the recipe to. Three different juices, along with bananas. A hit at parties and family get togethers!

3 cups sugar
6 cups water
1 (12 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate
1 (6 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate
1 (12 ounce) can frozen pineapple juice concentrate
6 bananas, mashed

Steps:

  • Heat sugar and water in a large saucepan over medium heat until sugar is dissolved.
  • Put sugar syrup in a large bowl along with the juices and bananas and mix together.
  • Place in containers and freeze until solid.
  • Prior to serving remove from freezer and allow it to soften just enough so you can scoop it out.
  • Combine it with a lemon-lime soda to finish your slush.
  • Usually equal amounts of both but to your tastes.

3 cups pineapple juice
1 1/2 cups orange juice
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 (32 ounce) bottle carbonated lemon-lime beverage, chilled

Steps:

  • In a large non-metal container, combine mashed bananas and juices; mix well and freeze.
  • Two hours before serving, remove frozen mixture from freezer; let stand at room temperature.
  • Just before serving, stir carbonated beverage into slushy fruit mixture.
  • Serve immediately.

This was served at my daughters baby shower, her MIL made it and it was fantastic! Even great the next day (we took the leftovers home). Easy to make ahead and have in the freezer for unexpected guests.

6 cups water
4 cups sugar
1 (46 ounce) can pineapple juice
1 (12 ounce) can , frozen orange juice- thawed
3 lemons, juice of
5 bananas, mashed
2 liters soda Sprite or 2 liters diet Sprite

Steps:

  • On stovetop, heat sugar in water until fully dissolved. Let cool.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients except the soda and mix well. Freeze this mixture overnight. Be sure to pour it into something you can get it out of easily while still in frozen state. I use quart or gallon size freezer bags.
  • When ready to use - allow mixture to thaw a couple hours prior to serving. Place in punch bowl and add the bottle of soda. Serve and enjoy!

4 cups pineapple juice
5 bananas, mashed
1 (6 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 (6 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
6 cups water
4 cups white sugar
18 cups lemon-lime soda (such as 7-Up®), or as needed

Steps:

  • Mix pineapple juice, bananas, orange juice concentrate, and lemonade concentrate in a large bowl.
  • Bring water to a boil in a saucepan. Dissolve sugar in the water and bring again to a boil; pour over the juice mixture and stir.
  • Cover bowl with plastic wrap and freeze until mixture is mushy, at least 4 hours.
  • Mix equal parts slush and lemon-lime soda in cocktail glasses to serve.
