This is really a delicious dessert. I don't usually like raisins in a lot of things, but I do like it in this recipe. Recipe is from Paula Deen's magazine.

1 1/3 cups sugar
1 cup golden raisin
1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
8 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup butter

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Lightly grease a 13x9-inch baking dish.
  • In large bowl, combine sugar, raisins, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Add apples, tossing gently to coat.
  • Place apples in prepared baking dish.
  • For topping, in large bowl, combine brown sugar and flour.
  • Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
  • Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over apple mixture.
  • Bake 30-40 minutes, or until apples are tender and crust is golden.

5 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup apple juice
3/4 cup brown sugar, I use soft dark
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup caster sugar
1/2 cup rolled oats
75 g unsalted butter, softened

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  • Put apples, raisins, juice and brown sugar in a medium sized saucepan, and cook over a medium heat for about 15 mins or until the apples are soft.
  • Transfer to 6 3/4 cup ramekins or a 1.5L capacity dish.
  • Put flour, caster sugar and oats into a large bowl and stir well.
  • Add the butter and rub lightly until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Scatter over apple mixture.
  • Bake for 25 minutes if using ramekins, or 35-40 minutes in the dish or until golden and crisp.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or custard.

1/2 cup old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup plus 2 Tbsp. firmly packed brown sugar, divided
1-1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon, divided
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) cold butter or margarine
1 cup water
1/2 cup raisins
2 Tbsp. MINUTE Tapioca
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
5 cups thinly sliced peeled apples

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix flour, oats, 2 Tbsp. of the brown sugar and 1/4 tsp. of the cinnamon in medium bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; set aside.
  • Mix water, remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar, the raisins, tapioca, remaining 1 tsp. cinnamon and the nutmeg in large saucepan. Stir in apples. Cook on medium heat until mixture comes to full boil, stirring constantly. Pour into 8-inch square baking dish; sprinkle with flour mixture.
  • Bake 30 to 35 min. or until juices form bubbles that burst slowly.

1 tablespoon all purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Butter 9 x 13 1/2-inch glass baking dish.
  • For Topping:
  • Mix old-fashioned oats, brown sugar, all purpose flour, ground cinnamon and salt in large bowl. Add unsalted butter and rub into mixture until coarse crumbs form. Mix in chopped walnuts.
  • For Filling:
  • Combine sliced apples, raisins, sugar, fresh lemon juice, flour and ground cinnamon in large bowl. Mix well to blend. Transfer apple-raisin filling to prepared dish. Spread topping over. Bake until topping is golden brown, about 55 minutes. Serve crisp warm with scoops of vanilla ice cream.

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
4 cups baking apples, sliced, pared and cored (Granny Smith or Gala apples are good choices for this recipe)
1/2 cup golden raisin
1 1/4 cups pecans, chopped, divided
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, cut into pieces

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a small bowl combine cinnamon and nutmeg and set aside.
  • In a medium bowl combine sliced apples, raisins, 1 cup of the pecans, and half of the cinnamon and nutmeg mixture.
  • Place apple mixture in a greased 8"x8-1/2" square baking pan.
  • In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, oats, salt, butter and the remaining cimmanon nutmeg mixture.
  • With a pastry blender or fork, cut butter until a crumbly mixture is formed; stir in the remaining pecans.
  • Pour mixture on top of apple mixture.
  • Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy.

Apples
2 pounds tart green apples, peeled, cored, sliced
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup apple juice
1/4 cup firmly packed golden brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • For Topping
  • Mix first 3 ingredients in small bowl. Add butter and rub with fingertips until mixture begins to form small moist clumps.
  • For Apples:
  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Combine apples, raisins, apple juice, sugar, cinnamon and cloves in heavy large saucepan. Cook over medium heat until apples are tender, stirring occasionally, about 13 minutes. Transfer mixture to 9-inch glass pie dish.
  • Sprinkle topping over apples. Bake until topping is golden brown, about 30 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes. Spoon dessert onto plates. Top with whipped cream or ice cream.

6 apples, pared, cored and cut into slices
3/4 cup golden raisin
5 1/2 ounces pineapple chunks in juice, drained (reserve 2 T of the juice)
2 tablespoons pineapple juice
1/2 lemon, juice of
1/8 cup white sugar
1/8 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup pecan pieces
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
6 tablespoons butter, melted

Steps:

  • Combine the apple slices, raisins, drained pineapple and sprinkle with the lemon and pineapple juices.
  • Toss lightly with a mixture of 1/8 C each of white and brown sugar and 1/4 t of cinnamon.
  • Put into a large casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
  • In a medium size bowl (while the apples are starting their cooking), mix the dry crumb topping ingredients together, then moisten with the melted butter.
  • Top the apple mixture with the crumb topping and bake for another 30-35 minutes.
