Coconut brownies with flavors of a candy bar, this brownie recipe has all the makings of a favorite. They're fudgy, attractive, delicious and very easy to make.

Brownie
1 cup Land O Lakes® Butter
4 (1-ounce) squares unsweetened baking chocolate
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
4 large Land O Lakes® Eggs
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
Macaroon Layer
2 1/2 cups sweetened flaked coconut
1 cup toasted chopped almonds
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 to 3 drops red food color
Drizzle
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 teaspoons shortening
48 whole blanched almonds

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 15x10x1-inch baking pan; set aside.
  • Melt butter and chocolate in 3-quart saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until smooth. Remove from heat; stir in sugar and vanilla until well mixed. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add flour and salt; mix well.
  • Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake 20 minutes.
  • Combine coconut, almonds, condensed milk and food color in bowl. Carefully spread coconut mixture over hot, partially baked brownie. Continue baking 15-18 minutes or until macaroon layer is light golden brown and center is firm to the touch. Cool completely.
  • Melt chocolate chips and shortening in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally, 3-5 minutes or until smooth. Drizzle chocolate mixture over cooled brownies. Cut into bars. Garnish each piece with whole almond.

Water, vegetable oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted
1/8 teaspoon almond extract
2/3 cup (from 14-oz can) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Grease bottom of 9-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray. Make brownie batter as directed on box. Spread in pan. Bake 28 to 31 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean.
  • Meanwhile, in medium bowl, mix filling ingredients. Remove brownies from oven. Carefully spoon and spread filling evenly over brownies. Bake 15 to 18 minutes longer or until light golden brown. Cool completely on cooling rack, about 1 1/2 hours.
  • In small microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips on High 30 to 60 seconds, stirring halfway through, until chips can be stirred smooth. Spoon into resealable food-storage plastic bag; partially seal bag. Cut small tip from corner of bag; drizzle over top. Let stand about 2 hours or until set. Cut into 4 rows by 4 rows.

1/2 cup butter
3 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 (15 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
3 cups flaked coconut
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup almonds, chopped,halved or whole

Steps:

  • Melt chocolate and butter in microwave (up to 2 minutes).
  • Cool.
  • Set aside.
  • Beat eggs slightly.
  • Add vanilla and sugar and mix.
  • Mix in chocolate mixture.
  • Mix in flour and salt.
  • Pour half in greased 13 x 9 pan In a separate bowl, combine milk, coconut and extracts.
  • Carefully spread over brownie mix in pan.
  • I spread with dabs of mix in my figures.
  • Sticky but effective.
  • Dab remaining brownie dough over coconut.
  • Spread to cover.
  • Bake at 325 F for 40-45 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle with chips.
  • Allow to soften and then spread.
  • Srinkle on nuts.
  • Cool slightly before cutting.
  • Cool completely before removing from pan.

Steps:

  • In a saucepan over low heat,melt chocolate and butter.
  • Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  • Stir in the sugar,flour,salt,vanilla and eggs,mix well.
  • Spread half the batter into a 13x9x2 inch baking pan.
  • In a bowl combine the filling ingredients.
  • Spoon over chocolate layer.
  • Carefully spread remaining chocolate mixture over filling.
  • Bake at 350°F for 35-40 minutes or until the sides pull away from the pan.
  • Allow chips to soften for a few minutes,then spread over bars.
  • Sprinkle with walnuts.
  • Cool completely before cutting.

1-1/2 pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, broken into pieces
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
1 cup sugar, divided
3 eggs, divided
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
2/3 cup chopped slivered almonds, divided
4 oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
1 Tbsp. flour
1 cup BAKER'S ANGEL FLAKE Coconut

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Line 9-inch square baking pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides of pan to form handles. Grease foil. Place chocolate and butter in large microwavable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 2 minutes or until butter is melted; stir until chocolate is completely melted. Stir in 2/3 cup of the sugar. Add 2 of the eggs and the vanilla; mix well. Stir in 1 cup flour and 1/3 cup of the almonds. Spread into prepared pan.
  • Beat cream cheese, remaining 1/3 cup sugar, remaining egg and 1 Tbsp. flour in same bowl with wire whisk until well blended. Stir in coconut and remaining 1/3 cup almonds. Spread over batter in pan.
  • Bake 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out with fudgy crumbs. (Do not overbake.) Cool in pan. Remove brownies from pan using foil handles; cut into 24 squares.
