Rutabaga Fries in the air fryer come out crisp golden brown and delicious. These low carb fries are great alternative to traditional French fries.

1 large rutabaga (about 2 pounds)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning (or seasoning of your choice)

Steps:

  • Peel and cut the rutabaga into 1/2 inch fries. (See post for instructions)
  • In a bowl, toss the fries with oil and seasonings to coat them
  • Air fry at 400° 20 minutes, shaking the basket often. Add or subtract minutes depending on your particular air fryer.
  • Serve hot, with ketchup or your favourite dip.

1 pound potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch sticks (straight or ruffle cut)
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
¼ teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon seasoning (ideas below), or more to taste

Steps:

  • Cover potatoes with water and let soak for 30 minutes. Drain and pat dry with paper towels. Drizzle with oil; toss to coat.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Arrange potatoes in a double layer in the fryer basket. Cook, tossing every 5 minutes, until golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes. Sprinkle with salt and desired seasoning.

Steps:

  • Scrub potatoes and pat dry. Cut into evenly-sized fries and place in a bowl.
  • Add olive oil and kosher salt and toss to coat.
  • Place fries in the air fryer basket and cook at 350-degrees F for 15 to 18 minutes, pausing half way through to shake the basket. Cook until golden and crispy.

1 tablespoon Mrs. Dash seasoning mix, blend (regular flavor)
1 teaspoon garlic granules
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons oil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 475.
  • Peel rutabaga and cut into fries as you would with potatoes.
  • Place into large bowl.
  • Coat them with the oil.
  • Add seasonings and combine.
  • Place on large baking sheet, lined with non stick foil.
  • Should be one layer.
  • Bake 30-40 minute
  • Serve hot.
