3 medium pears, peeled and sliced
2 teaspoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons old-fashioned oats
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
Dash ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon cold butter
2 tablespoons chopped nuts

Steps:

  • Place pear slices in a greased 1-qt. baking dish. Sprinkle with lemon juice. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, oats, flour, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. , Cut in butter until crumbly; add nuts. Sprinkle over pears. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly.

1/2 cup caramel topping
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup cold butter or margarine
16 vanilla wafer cookies, crushed (about 2/3 cup)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F. Lightly spray 8-inch square (2-quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray.
  • In large bowl, mix pears, caramel topping and vanilla until evenly coated. Spoon into baking dish.
  • In same bowl, mix flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Cut in butter, using pastry blender (or pulling 2 table knives through ingredients in opposite directions), until mixture looks like coarse crumbs. Stir in crushed cookies. Crumble over pear mixture.
  • Bake uncovered 50 to 60 minutes or until pears are tender and topping is golden brown. Let stand 10 minutes. Serve warm.

1 cup packed brown sugar

  • In a small bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar and cinnamon. Stir in butter (mixture will be crumbly); set aside 1 cup. Press the remaining mixture into an ungreased 8-in. square baking dish., In a small saucepan over low heat, cook and stir caramels and milk until caramels are melted and mixture is smooth.
