CROSBY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SLOPPY JOES--ADAPTED

Crosby Elementary School Sloppy Joes--Adapted image

Crosby Elementary School via the Food Network. These remind me of those I loved as a child--except I do not remember any crunch to those. Thus, I have adapted this recipe to saute the vegetables briefly with the beef. WARNING: These are VERY sweet, so adjust the amount of ketchup and/or brown sugar to moderate that, if desired. If you wish to increase the amount of vegetables, without anyone noticing :-) you can, as I did, add a few tablespoons of finely diced eggplant to the vegetables when sauteing them.

What is listed below is my updated recipe that tweaks it a bit for my family's tastes. It's now perfect and sooooooooooooooo easy to make. Recipe can be doubled (or more) easily with no worries that the taste will get messed up.

OLD FASHIONED SLOPPY JOES

Old Fashioned Sloppy Joes image

Like most old fashion recipes, this sloppy joe is not super spicy but is a sweet and tangy variety. Try this recipe once and you'll throw the can sauce away for good. Old Fashion Sloppy Joe can be cooked and served immediately but is even better reheated the day after.
