In just 10 minutes, this zesty cheddar bread (a great side for any meal!) can be prepped and in the oven baking.

1 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons finely chopped chipotle chiles in adobo sauce (from 7-oz can)
2 eggs
2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Grease bottom only of 8x4- or 9x5-inch loaf pan with shortening or cooking spray.
  • In large bowl, stir buttermilk, butter, sugar, chiles and eggs until well mixed. Stir in remaining ingredients just until moistened. Spread in pan.
  • Bake 8-inch pan 45 to 55 minutes, 9-inch pan 40 to 50 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean (do not underbake). Cool in pan on cooling rack 15 minutes. Loosen sides of loaf from pan; remove from pan and place top side up on cooling rack. Serve warm, if desired.

1 loaf crusty bread
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 tablespoons flour
½ cup brown ale
1 cup half & half
1 tablespoon Frank's Red Hot Original Sauce
1 teaspoon dijon mustard
½ teaspoon worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
12 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese
parsley, for garnish, minced
Pretzels, vegetables, bread, and chicken wing, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF
  • Cut out the center of the loaf to create a bread boat. Reserve the part you pulled out for
  • dipping later. Place bread boat on a sheet tray and bake for 7-10 minutes or until crispy.
  • In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Whisk in flour and let bubble for a minute.
  • Whisk in brown ale and half-and-half. Whisk in Frank's Red Hot Original Sauce, Dijon, Worcestershire, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Bring to a light simmer. Gradually whisk in cheddar cheese, allowing each bit of cheese to fully melt before adding more cheese. Once the sauce is fully melted and smooth, pour into bread boat.
  • Broil for 30 seconds to slightly brown the top of the cheese, keeping a close eye because it can go from brown to burnt very quickly.
  • Garnish with minced parsley. Serve with pretzels, vegetables, reserved bread, and chicken wings for dipping.

Of all the different appetizers I've made over the years, this one is always the first to go and it is SUPER easy to make. You can use either sweet or sour dough bread, both are tasty! I will usually assemble the Cheesy Breads the morning of the party on cookie sheets and cover with plastic wrap and keep in the fridge. When everyone has arrived at the party I just pop them in the oven and serve them piping hot! If you don't want the bread to be crunchy, broil them instead of baking them. I've tried them both ways and crunchy is better!

3 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup mayonnaise
1 (1 ounce) package dry Ranch-style dressing mix
1 (2 ounce) can chopped black olives, drained
4 green onions, sliced
2 French baguettes, cut into 1/2 inch slices

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a medium bowl, blend Cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, ranch-style dressing mix, black olives and green onions. Increase the amount of mayonnaise as desired if the mixture seems too dry.
  • Spread equal amounts of the Cheddar cheese mixture on French baguette slices. Arrange slices in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven 15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and lightly browned. Serve warm.

3 1/4 cups (16 1/4 ounces) all-purpose flour
1/4 cup (1 3/4 ounces) sugar
1 tablespoon instant or rapid-rise yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup warm water (110 degrees)
2 large eggs plus 1 large yolk
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
6 ounces Monterey Jack cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes (1 1/2 cups), room temperature
6 ounces provolone cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes (1 1/2 cups), room temperature
Topping:
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened

Steps:

  • Take the cheese out of the refrigerator when you start the recipe to ensure that it comes to room temperature by the time you need it. Cold cheese will retard rising. Plan ahead: The dough needs to rise for several hours before baking. 1. FOR THE BREAD: Whisk flour, sugar, yeast, pepper flakes, and salt together in bowl of stand mixer. Whisk warm water, eggs and yolk, and melted butter together in liquid measuring cup. Add egg mixture to flour mixture. Fit mixer with dough hook and knead on medium speed until dough clears bottom and sides of bowl, about 8 minutes. 2. Transfer dough to unfloured counter, shape into ball, and transfer to greased bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in warm place until doubled in size, 1 1/2 to 2 hours. 3. Grease 9-inch round cake pan. Transfer dough to unfloured counter and press to deflate. Roll dough into 18 by 12-inch rectangle with long side parallel to counter's edge. Distribute Monterey Jack and provolone evenly over dough, leaving 1-inch border around edges. Starting with edge closest to you, roll dough into log. Pinch seam and ends to seal, then roll log so seam side is down. Roll log back and forth on counter, applying gentle, even pressure, until log reaches 30 inches in length. If any tears occur, pinch to seal. 4. Starting at one end, wind log into coil; tuck end underneath coil. Place loaf in prepared cake pan and cover loosely with clean dish towel. Let rise in warm place until doubled in size, 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Adjust oven rack to lower-middle position and heat oven to 350 degrees. 5. FOR THE TOPPING: Brush top of loaf with egg, then sprinkle with pepper flakes. Place cake pan on rimmed baking sheet. Bake until loaf is golden brown, about 25 minutes. Rotate loaf, tent with aluminum foil, and continue to bake until loaf registers 190 degrees, 25 to 30 minutes longer. 6. Transfer pan to wire rack and brush bread with butter. Let cool for 10 minutes. Run knife around edge of pan to loosen bread. Slide bread onto wire rack, using spatula as needed for support. Let cool for 30 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.

1 (4.5 ounce) can mild green chiles (drained)
1/2 cup shredded medium cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shredded Pepper Jack cheese
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Move oven rack about 2 notches but not too close to the top.
  • Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Spray cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Place dough on cookie sheet and spread around with hands to form a 16 x 6 inch rectangle.
  • Sprinkle chiles and shredded cheese on the dough leaving a 1 inch border around the entire rectangle.
  • Bring the long sides up over the cheese and pinch the dough along the center to seal. Also pinch each end to seal.
  • Sprinkle top with garlic powder and grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake for 15-17 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Cool about 10 minutes and then slice and serve.

1 tablespoon parmesan cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Mince the garlic. Finely chop the spinach.
  • Combine the water, tomatoes and their juice, and garlic in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil. Add the ravioli, cover, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes. Uncover and cook 5 more minutes or until done.
  • Stir in the spinach, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cover and cook 2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes. Sprinkle with Parmesan.
