EASY TRADITIONAL WHITE SANGRIA



Easy Traditional White Sangria image

An easy, 8-ingredient (1-pitcher!) recipe for traditional white wine sangria. Brandy and wine recommendations included, and seasonally adaptable!

1 medium lime ((thinly sliced into rounds))
1 medium lemon ((thinly sliced into rounds))
1/4 cup organic cane sugar ((or sub agave, powdered coconut sugar, maple syrup, or stevia to taste // for drier sangria, omit))
1/4 cup apple brandy
1/2 medium organic green apple ((cored, skin on, chopped into small pieces))
1 medium ripe peach or nectarine ((thinly sliced))
1 cup sliced strawberries
1 750-ml bottle dry, crisp white wine
Ice or frozen berries for serving
Sparkling water ((optional))
Fresh mint ((optional))

Steps:

  • Add lime, lemon, and sugar (or other sweeteners) to a large pitcher (or use multiple pitchers if making a larger batch) and muddle with a muddler or gently crush with a wooden spoon for 45 seconds.
  • Add apple brandy and muddle again to combine for 30 seconds. Add apple, nectarine, and strawberries and stir to incorporate. Then add wine and stir once more.
  • Taste and adjust flavor as needed, adding more sweetener of choice for sweetness, lemon or lime juice for acidity, or fruit. Stir to combine.
  • Add ice or frozen berries and stir once more to chill. Serve as is or with a bit more ice and mint (optional). To dilute the mixture, top off glasses with a bit of sparkling water (optional).
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours, though best when enjoyed within the first 1-2 days.

½ cup peach schnapps
¼ cup white sugar
¼ cup frozen sliced peaches, or to taste
¼ cup frozen sliced mango, or to taste
¼ cup frozen raspberries, or to taste

Steps:

  • Pour wine and schnapps into a pitcher. Add sugar, peaches, mango, and raspberries and stir gently. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

1 ripe mango, peeled, pitted and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1 peach or nectarine, halved, pitted and cut into 12 wedges
1 plum, halved, pitted and cut into 12 wedges
2 1/4 cups dry white wine
1 1/2 cups mango juice
1 1/2 cups prosecco

Steps:

  • Combine the mangoes, peaches and plums in a tall pitcher. Pour in the white wine and mango juice and stir to combine. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or up to 1 day.
  • To serve, pour the sangria into 8 tall glasses over ice and top off with prosecco.

Sangria doesn't have to be a sugary mess. Grilled stone fruit adds a natural caramelized sweetness to this refreshing drink.

Vegetable oil (for grill)
2 peaches, halved, pitted
2 plums, halved, pitted
1 nectarine, halved, pitted
12 cherries, 6 halved, pitted, 6 left whole for serving
1 (750ml) bottle red wine
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup brandy
1/4 cup simple syrup

Steps:

  • Prepare a grill or grill pan for medium heat; oil grates. Grill peach, plum, and nectarine halves, flipping once, until lightly charred and tender, 8-10 minutes. Transfer to a cutting board and let cool, then cut into 1" chunks.
  • Muddle grilled fruit and 6 halved cherries in a large pitcher with a wooden spoon. Top with wine, orange juice, brandy, and simple syrup; stir to incorporate. Chill at least 1 hour.
  • Fill glasses with ice. Add sangria and muddled fruit and top each with a cherry.
