1 cup barbeque sauce
½ cup apple cider vinegar
½ cup chicken broth
¼ cup light brown sugar
1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard

EASY SLOW COOKER BBQ PULLED PORK RECIPE

Easy Slow Cooker BBQ Pulled Pork Recipe image

Create moist, tender, and full flavored pulled pork with this simple to follow slow cooker recipe.

Provided by Kris Coppieters

Categories     Dinner     Lunch     Main Course

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup apple juice
3 tablespoons of your favorite store bought BBQ sauce, preferably one with liquid smoke as an ingredient like KC Masterpiece Hickory Brown Sugar
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon of your favorite BBQ dry rub
1 bone-in pork butt ((approximately 7-8 pounds))
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
1/4 cup of your favorite BBQ dry rub
5 apples
Hamburger buns
Additional BBQ sauce for serving

Steps:

  • Prep. To create the braising liquid, combine the chicken broth, apple juice, BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, and BBQ dry rub in a bowl and blend well.
  • Trim all excess fat from the pork butt.
  • Lightly coat the pork butt with mayonnaise. Season the pork butt liberally with the remaining BBQ dry rub.
  • Stand an apple upright on a cutting board. Slice one side off of the apple, approximately 1/2-inch from the center. Do the same with the opposite side of the apple. Repeat with the remaining apples. Enjoy the ends of the apples as a fresh snack.
  • Cook. Set the apples on the bottom of the slow cooker with one cut side down to create a base for the pork butt. This will keep the pork butt out of the braising liquid during the beginning of the cooking process so that the dry rub has time to penetrate the meat.
  • Add enough of the braising liquid to the slow cooker so that all but the upper 1/4-inch of the apples is immersed. Reserve the remaining liquid for adding to the finished pulled pork.
  • Set the pork butt on the apples.
  • Cover the slow cooker and cook the pork butt until it reaches an internal temperature of 190°F, approximately 1 hour per pound.
  • Remove the pork butt from the crockpot and place in a large casserole dish or aluminum pan. Remove the cooking liquid from the slow cooker and discard. Alternatively, you can reserve the liquid for use as the base of a flavorful sauce, though you will want to skim as much fat as possible off of the top once it has cooled, as it will be very oily from the rendered pork fat.
  • Use forks or bear paws to shred the pork butt. Add the remaining braising liquid to the pulled pork and mix the pork well. If you are not serving the pulled pork immediately, then return it to the slow cooker, cover, and set the dial to warm.
  • Serve. To serve, place the pulled pork on buns and serve with additional BBQ sauce.

PULLED PORK BARBECUE (SLOW COOKER)

Pulled Pork Barbecue (Slow Cooker) image

Perfect, simple, easy pulled pork barbecue. Found on about.com. You can also sub broth, stock, or beer to replace the water that you initially cook the pork in. Note: If you're using a really thick barbecue sauce you may want to add up to 1 1/2 cups of water to thin it out a bit. If the sauce is too thick the pork will come out dry. **Also, hubby & I like lots of bbq sauce so we tend to use more than this recipe calls for... usually around another 9 to 18 ounces!

Provided by Virginia Cherry Blo

Categories     Pork

Time 19m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 onion, chopped
6 garlic cloves, whole
2 cups water
18 ounces barbecue sauce (or 2 cups of your favorite)
salt and pepper
4 lbs pork roast (or shoulder)
2 onions, sliced, divided

Steps:

  • Place one sliced onion at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Stud pork roast with garlic cloves and season with salt and pepper.
  • Place pork in slow cooker on top of the sliced onion. Cover with the second sliced onion and add enough water to fill Crock Pot two thirds of the way.
  • Cover and cook on low 8 to 12 hours (or high 4 to 6 hours.).
  • Remove pork. Remove and discard cloves, bone and fat as well as any water, onions and grease remaining in pot.
  • When the pork is cool enough to handle, use a fork or your fingers to pull it apart until the entire roast is shredded.
  • Return the pulled pork to the slow cooker. Mix in the chopped onion and BBQ sauce and cover. Heat on high for 1-3 hours or until the onions are soft.

'PRETTY FREAKING AWESOME' PULLED PORK (CROCK POT)

'Pretty Freaking Awesome' Pulled Pork (Crock Pot) image

In the search for the best pulled pork recipe there were several that I found that were appealing. I combined a couple recipes and added my own flare to make this delicious dish. The recipe is easy enough to include my kids. My 3 year old really enjoyed asking the butcher for some pork butt, while my 4 year old enjoyed applying the rub.

Provided by Splash035

Categories     Easy

Time 21h

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 -4 lbs pork butt
2 large onions
1 cup ginger ale
16 ounces barbecue sauce (I used 4 oz Famous Dave's Texas Pit and 12 oz Zarda's Original)
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon cayenne

Steps:

  • 1. 6 hours before cooking, mix all ingredients for the rub and apply the rub liberally onto the butt, cover with plastic, and store in the refrigerator.
  • 3. Slice one onion and place in crock pot.
  • 4. Put in the butt and cover with the other onion, sliced. Pour in the ginger ale. Cover and cook on LOW for about 12 hours, turning once or twice in the process to ensure more even cooking.
  • 5. Remove the meat, strain and save the onion and 1/4-1/2 cup of the liquid.
  • 6. With latex gloves, pull the pork apart by hand and add it back to the crockpot, discarding any remaining fat, bones, or skin. Most of the fat will have melted away.
  • 7. Depending on how dry the pork is in the crock pot, add 1/4-/12 cup of saved liquid to keep the pork most.
  • 8. Chop up the saved onion into tiny pieces and add back to the crock pot.
  • 9. Stir in the barbeque sauce.
  • 10. Continue to cook with the lid on for another 2-4 hours.
  • 11. Serve on hamburger buns, topped with more sauce, coleslaw, and sliced pickles.

THE EASIEST AND BEST BBQ PULLED PORK RECIPE (SLOW COOKER)

The easiest and best BBQ pulled pork recipe (slow cooker) image

I had trouble finding a recipe that didn't have a million ingredients but this one is amazing so thought I'd share!

Provided by lmcp1981

Time 10h2m

Yield Makes 12-16 floury baps - depending on size of joint.

Number Of Ingredients 3

Boneless pork shoulder with skin/fat on
1 carton of the cheapest concentrated apple juice
2 Jars of BBQ cooking sauce (asda Maple BBQ sauce is lovely)

Steps:

  • Stick the pork in the slow cooker, skin side up and pour over the carton of apple juice. The pork does not need to be completely cover by the juice.
  • Slow cook on low setting overnight - a good 10-12 hours if you can manage it.
  • Remove the pork from the cooker, take off and discard the hard skin and fat but keep the soft squishy fat.
  • Shred the pork with a fork and stir the pork and soft fat back into the slow cooker juice.
  • Stir in the BBQ sauce and cook on low for another hour or until ready to serve.
  • Serve with anything you fancy! I like to serve mine with floury baps, roasted Mediterranean vegetables, garlic roast potatoes, and creamy coleslaw. Delicious!

SLOW COOKER BBQ PULLED PORK

Slow Cooker BBQ Pulled Pork image

This is worth the extra time it takes - most of the time is cooking & cooling (not active time) and the result is glorious! It makes a lot, you can freeze a portion of it once you've completed it. Cooking time does not include marinading the night before or the overnight cooling in fridge. Making this is a two day commitment....but again not active cooking the whole time!

Provided by MA HIKER

Categories     For Large Groups

Time 14h30m

Yield 20 cups pulled pork, 16-20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

8 -9 lbs pork shoulder
3 tablespoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
nonstick cooking spray
48 ounces spaghetti sauce (I used basic Ragu, used most of a 64 oz jar)
2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1 1/2 cups white vinegar
3 medium yellow onions, coarsely choppied
6 garlic cloves, chopped (optional, I can't tolerate garlic)
1 apple, peeled and coarsely chopped (optional)
6 tablespoons Dijon mustard

Steps:

  • Season pork with salt, pepper and chili powder (mix spices and rub all over pork that has been rinsed & dried). For extra flavor, do this the night before and let it sit and "dry marinade" overnight in the fridge (covered).
  • In the morning, spray 6 1/2 quart slow cooker (crockpot) with cooking spray, then add pork.
  • Combine remaining ingredients in mixing bowl, then pour over pork.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or until internal temperature of the pork reaches at least 195 degrees F and meat is literally falling off the bone.
  • Transfer cooked pork and sauce into large bowl, cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • The next day skim the fat that has risen to the surface of the sauce (it will be yellowish-red) and discard.
  • Strain the de-fatted sauce into the crockpot (can put colander in opening of crockpot pouring sauce & pork into colandar with sauce only going into the crockpot).
  • Shred the pork with your fingers and put into the crockpot with the sauce (will very easily fall off the bone and be easy to shred). Discard the fat.
  • Stir well and cook on low for about 4 hours to give the sauce time to seep into the shredded bits.
  • Serve with sandwich buns, or with thick slabs of home-made bread, or on egg noodles or even with rice.
  • Yum!
