FRESH TOMATO SALSA

Fresh Tomato Salsa image

Every summer(and winter too) my co-worker ask for me to bring this in for a snack. A friend of mine once took it to the local Farmers Market as a way of selling her produce. One man offered to buy the whole gallon container just to take home!

Provided by Sandy One

Categories     Sauces

Time 20m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

8 -10 large tomatoes (home-grown the best, but store bought in a crunch o.k.)
1 large onion
jalapeno pepper (to taste for desired hotness)
chopped fresh cilantro (to taste)
chopped garlic
cumin
green pepper
salt, to taste if desired

Steps:

  • Chop all vegetables.
  • If you like hot leave a few seeds of jalepeno.
  • Sprinkle with cumin and salt to taste.
  • I have also used this same recipe and cooked all ingredients down.
  • Canned in sterile jars and processed according to directions.
  • This is good to add to the homemade chile in the winter!
  • You will never go back to store canned tomatoes again!

10-MINUTE CHERRY TOMATO SALSA

10-Minute Cherry Tomato Salsa image

Serve my garden fresh cherry tomato salsa as a zesty dip with tortilla chips or as a topping for your favorite Mexican tacos, burritos, or enchiladas.

Provided by Sheila Thigpen

Categories     Appetizers

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 medium white onion
1 jalapeño pepper (seeded)
1 - 2 cloves garlic
3 cups cherry tomatoes
1/2 cup loosely packed fresh Cilantro leaves (optional)
1/2 large lime
1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Steps:

  • Roughly chop the onion and add to the bowl of a food processor or mini chopper along with the jalapeño pepper, and garlic cloves. Pulse until the contents are finely diced.

  • If using, add the cilantro and pulse one or two more times.
  • Strain the salsa through a mesh strainer to remove the excess juices.
  • Add the salsa to a bowl and add the lime, salt, and black pepper. Taste and adjust the amount of lime and salt to your liking.

BEST FRESH TOMATO SALSA RECIPE

Best Fresh Tomato Salsa Recipe image

This super easy and fresh tomato salsa recipe is so good and can be ready in 10 minutes or less. Made with sweet vibrant tomatoes blended with herby, clean cilantro, crunchy red onion, spicy chilies, honey, salt and pepper. Healthy, light and the perfect dip with tortilla chips or topping on eggs, chicken or fish. A super simple vegan and gluten free recipe!

Provided by Amy

Categories     Dressings and Sauces

Time 5m

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 8

6-7 fresh tomatoes - I used a combo of vine, Roma and cherry tomatoes
1/3 cup fresh packed cilantro
1/4 cup chopped red onion
2 tablespoons green chilies
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Prep the tomatoes. If you are using tomatoes that have seeds then you will want to remove them. If you are using cherry tomatoes then you do not need to remove the seeds. To clean tomatoes all you need to do is slice each one in half, lengthwise, trim off the end and scrape the seeds out with a spoon. Then simply slice them.
  • Blend the salsa. Add the chopped tomatoes, red onion, green chilies, cilantro, garlic, honey, salt and pepper to the bowl of a food processor or high speed blender and blend on high until desired consistency is achieved. I like my salsa chunky so I blended it for about 15 seconds.
  • Serve. Pour the salsa into a bowl and serve it with your favorite tortilla chips.

  • Finely dice the tomatoes, onion, and jalapeño, and chop the cilantro. Squeeze the juice from the lemon and limes using a citrus press or reamer.
  • Stir together the tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and cilantro until combined. Add the lemon and lime juices and salt, mix well, then taste. Add more lime and lemon juice or salt as desired.
  • Cover and chill until ready to serve. The salsa will taste better if it has a little time to sit, as it allows the salt and citrus juices to pull water from the tomatoes and onion. However, the longer it sits, the more soggy the salsa becomes, so try to eat it all within 8-12 hours.
