1 cup butter - room temperature ((2-sticks))
1 cup vegetable shortening
5 cups confectioners sugar
1½ tbsp HOT water
2 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Combine butter & shortening in your mixer bowl & beat on high until creamy.
  • Beat in confectioners sugar, 1 cup at a time on low until well incorporated.
  • Stir in vanilla & then hot water.
  • Increase speed to med-high & beat well - until light & fluffy.

1/2 cup Butter Flavor Crisco
2 cups powdered sugar
1 dash salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 -4 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • Place butter, shortening, sugar, salt, vanilla and 2 tablespoons milk in a chopper and pulse 4 or 5 times for about 10 seconds each time.
  • Add additional milk 1 tablespoon at a time and pulse until your reach the desired consistency.
  • Make enough frosting for a 2 layer cake or one 9 x1 3 cake.

1 1/2 cups butter, softened
3 cups powdered sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 tablespoons instant coffee, dissolved in a splash of hot water

Steps:

  • In your mixer, beat the softened butter with the powdered sugar until it is creamy.
  • Add in the cocoa powder, vanilla extract & coffee.
  • Beat with the mixer until it's nice and fluffy (about a minute or 2)
  • This makes a perfectly spreadable frosting. The nice thing about it is that you can put it in the fridge to make it a little more firm if you would like.
