TEXAS BEANS WITH BACON
This is great take-a-long dish. It's a rich and wonderful side dish. I've made this for as long as I can remember. I used to take to work luncheons at AT&T, and it's a real man-pleaser.

Steps:
- Fry bacon, drain, crumble and set aside. Drain all but about a tablespoon of the bacon fat, then brown the ground beef with onions.
- Put all ingredients in a bean pot if you have one, or a ceramic baking dish and mix well. Bake 350 for 45 minutes. NOTE: If I don't double, I use a large or 2 small cans of baked beans and it goes a little farther.

- Cook the bacon in a large, heavy saute pan until crisp, about 5 minutes. Remove the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Spoon off the excess bacon grease, leaving 2 tablespoons in the pan. Add the onion to the pan and saute until soft and very tender, 4 to 5 minutes. Sprinkle in the garlic and red pepper flakes and saute until just fragrant, about 1 more minute. Add the reserved green beans and the pecans and cook until heated through, 5 to 6 minutes more. Return the bacon to the pan, pour in the lemon juice and toss. Season with salt and pepper.

TEXAS ROADHOUSE GREEN BEANS (COPYCAT)
We really like these green beans at TRH and after a little searching found this recipe. Recipe is courtesy of WTVR, Richmond, VA. When a friend of mine started working there, I asked if this is how they prepare their green beans and she shook her head yes, but said no with a smile. I have included both variations for this recipe; choose the one to your liking. Cook/simmer time is approximate.
