1/2 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted butter
6 (7-inch) flour tortillas (not low-fat)
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps:

  • Put oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 500°F.
  • Melt butter in a 17- by 12-inch shallow baking pan in oven, about 2 minutes. Spread tortillas, in baking pan, overlapping slightly and turning each over once to coat with butter.
  • Stir together sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Sprinkle evenly over tortillas.
  • Bake tortillas until golden and puffed in spots, 4 to 5 minutes.

32 (3.5 inch square) wonton wrappers
1 ½ tablespoons margarine, melted
3 tablespoons cinnamon sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Lay the wonton wrappers out flat on a baking sheet. Brush evenly with melted margarine. Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon sugar over the top of each one.
  • Bake for 5 minutes in the preheated oven, or until crisp. Remove from baking sheets to cool on wire racks.

1 compressed yeast cake
1/4 cup water, very warm
3 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
3 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/2 cups sugar

Steps:

  • Soften yeast in water (can use one packet or 2 1/4 tsp bulk).
  • Sift flour with salt.
  • Cut in butter and shortening.
  • Blend in eggs, sour cream, 1 tsp vanilla, and yeast mixture. Mix well.
  • Cover; chill at least 2 hours. Dough may be stored in refrigerator up to 4 days.
  • Mix sugar and remaining vanilla.
  • Sprinkle board with about 1/2 cup of mixture.
  • Roll out half of dough to a 16x8 inch rectangle; sprinkle with 1 tablespoon more vanilla sugar.
  • Fold one end of dough over center. Fold opposite end over to make 3 layers. Turn 1/4 way around and repeat rolling and folding twice, sprinkling board with vanilla sugar as needed.
  • Roll out about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Cut into 4x1 inch strips; twist each strip 2 or 3 times.
  • Place on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Repeat entire process with remaining dough.
  • Bake at 375 for 14 minutes until light golden brown.

2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 cup very cold butter
2 teaspoons Butter Flavor Crisco
1 egg yolk
4 -5 teaspoons ice water

Steps:

  • Place flour, salt and sugar into a large mixing bowl and mix well.
  • Cut in the butter and shortening, and cut the fat into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse cornmeal.
  • In a cup whisk together the yolk and 3 teaspoons of the ice water.
  • Using a fork mix it into the dry mixture, drawing the mixture twoards the center of the bowl.
  • If it's still crumbly add a bit more water, 1 teaspoon at a time.
  • Turn out, knead for a few seconds and form into 2 even balls.
  • Wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Roll out and use as you will.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450°.
  • Bring crusts to room temperature.
  • Place one pie crust on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Seal any cracks.
  • Crumble brown sugar evenly over entire crust.

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Cut the wonton wrappers in half on the diagonal so you wind up with 20 triangles. In a medium sized bowl, toss the triangles gently with the canola oil, separating the pieces gently so each piece is coated with oil.

  • THAW pastry sheet at room temperature 40 min. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Mix brown sugar, butter and pecans.
  • UNFOLD pastry on lightly floured surface. Roll into 15"x 12" rectangle. Cut into 20 (3") squares. Press squares into bottoms of 3" muffin-pan cups. Place 1 heaping tsp. pecan mixture in center of each.

1-1/2 teaspoons lemon extract
5-1/2 to 6 cups all-purpose flour
6 tablespoons butter, softened, divided
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water; let stand for 5 minutes. Add the milk, 1/2 cup sugar, oil, salt, eggs, extract and 2 cups flour; beat well. Stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
