Strawberries and basil give nuance to iced tea. The drink is toted in an old-fashioned glass jar, with ice added just before serving. Small bags of pistachios are the perfect accompaniment.

Yield Makes 2 quarts

Number Of Ingredients 6

Ingredients

8 black-tea bags
1 pound strawberries, hulled and halved (quartered if large)
1 cup water, plus more for steeping
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup fresh basil, plus more for serving
Ice, for serving

Steps:

Bring 4 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add tea bags, and let steep for 5 minutes.
Place strawberries in a bowl. Bring water and sugar to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat, add basil, and let steep for 10 minutes. Strain over strawberries; discard basil. Toss to coat. Let stand until cool, about 25 minutes. Combine strawberries (with syrup) and tea in a pitcher. Refrigerate until chilled. Serve over ice, and garnish with basil.

Ingredients

1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
1 cup fresh basil
12 green tea bags
1/3 cup sugar
To serve: ice, fresh strawberries, fresh basil

Steps:

Bring 4 cups of water to boil. Transfer to a heat safe bowl.
add in the fresh strawberries, basil and sugar.
Stir until sugar dissolves and let sit for 5 minutes.
Add in the tea bags. Steep for 5 minutes.
Pass the tea through a sieve removing the bulk strawberries and basil. be sure to press the strawberries into the sieve.
Add in 3 cups of cold water. Taste the tea and adjust sweetness to desired taste.
Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Serve chilled tea over ice. Add in sliced strawberries and basil.
Enjoy!

Ingredients

6 black tea bags, your favorite
4 cups water
1 cup basil leaves
sugar, to taste (or sweetener of choice)
1 cup water
10 large strawberries (sliced or chopped)
ice cube

Steps:

Brew tea for 5 to 8 minutes in 4 of boiling water (off heat).
Remove the tea bags.
Separately boil1 cup of water and add sugar and 1 cup of basil leaves, brew covered (off heat) for 10 minutes.
Remove the basil and add chopped strawberries and let it chill in the fridge.
Add the basil strawberry syrup to the cool or cold brewed tea.
Serve in glasses with ice and enjoy!.

Steps:

Combine tea bags, blackberries, and basil in a tea pot. Mash the blackberries a little. Fill with boiling hot water and steep for 5 minutes. Pour and strain into ice-filled pitcher. Add lemonade and honey as desired. Fill individual glasses with ice and serve.

Pour strawberry mixture into a blender. Secure lid on blender; remove center piece to allow steam to escape. Place a clean towel over opening. Process until smooth, about 30 seconds. Pour mixture into a heatproof bowl; stir in basil, and let stand 10 minutes. Pour mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a separate bowl; discard solids. Cover; chill until ready to use (or up to 2 weeks).
