Steps:
- Place a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Pour in the vegetable oil. Spread the ham in the skillet in a thin layer. Cook, stirring occasionally, until it turns brown and crispy. Remove half of the ham shards from the skillet and place on a paper-towel lined plate. Leave the remaining ham and any fat that has rendered in the skillet.
- Add the green beans, chicken stock, pepper and salt to the skillet. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the stock reduces and darkens in color and the beans are soft but hold their shape, about 30 minutes. Pour into a serving platter and sprinkle with the reserved crispy ham.

- Put the drained beans in a 9x13-inch pan. Add the cooked bacon pieces. Mix the brown sugar, butter, soy sauce, and garlic powder. Pour over the beans and bake 40 minutes at 350°F. Toss to coat and mix every things, serve.

- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add bacon, and cook until browned, but not yet crispy. Push bacon to the sides of the skillet and add the onions and garlic to the bacon grease. Cook and stir until onions are barely translucent. Stir in the green beans, and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Pour in the water, and mix in the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Simmer over low heat uncovered until water has evaporated and green beans are tender, about 1 hour.

THE BEST SOUTHERN GREEN BEANS
These are FANTASTIC! This recipe was revised from an old family favorite! My southern roots come through on this one! Either way the beans end up melting in your mouth and the cooked bacon adds more flavor! REALLY tasty! Good for cookouts or to compliment any meal!

Steps:
- Put green beans in pot- if canned add juices, if frozen add water enough to see but not cover beans- cook on medium heat.
- Fry bacon until cooked but not too crisp- drain on paper towel.
- Cut onion in large (thick) slices and break rings apart in to beans.
- Crumble or rip bacon apart add to beans.
- Add spices to taste.
- Let cook for a few hours on low heat.
- If want to serve sooner- turn heat up and cook until water boils down.
- OR can put in crockpot on low all day long and let simmer.

- Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until the fat begins to render. Stir in onions and garlic; let cook for 1 minute. Stir in beans and water. Let the beans cook until the water has evaporated and the beans are tender. If the beans are not tender once the water has evaporated, add a small amount more water and let them cook until tender. Season with salt and pepper (to taste) and serve.
