Steps:

  • Heat oven to 450.
  • Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
  • Cut in crisco until small crumbs form.
  • Add sour cream and stir only until entire mixture is moistened.
  • Turn onto floured surface, grease hands, and knead about 10 times.
  • Drop onto ungreased baking sheet in 1 1/2 inch diameter, 3/4 inch thick mounds.
  • Bake 10-12 minutes.

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, soda, and salt.
  • Cut in the butter until coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the sour cream and milk just until combined. Do not overmix or your biscuits will be tough!
  • Knead about 10 times on a floured surface, then press out to 1/2 inch thickness.
  • Cut with a biscuit cutter dipped in flour.
  • Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool on wire racks.
  • Best served warm with apple butter. You can also use a powdered sugar glaze and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450°F.
  • Cut butter into dry ingredients.
  • In another bowl, beat egg and mix with sour cream.
  • Add to dry ingredients and mix lightly with a fork just until incorporated

½ cup confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, soda, and salt. Cut in margarine. Make a well in center. Add sour cream, 2 tablespoons milk, and raisins, stirring till just combined (add a bit more milk, if needed).
  • On floured surface, gently knead 8-10 stokes. Pat dough to 1/2" thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter, dipping in flour between cuts. Place on baking sheet.

This is a basic recipe so you can add whatever flavours and add-ins that you want: cheese, spices,poppyseeds, etc. Original introdcution>>>"Adds a little more flavor to a plain biscuit. They are very fluffy too! I made these because I was sick of how plain biscuits can taste. I add sour cream to a lot of recipes and it seems to *fix* the flavor of some things, including biscuits."

1/3 cup sour cream
1/3 cup water or 1/3 cup milk

Steps:

  • Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees.
