SMOKED JALAPENO POPPERS RECIPE WITH BRISKET AND CREAM CHEESE

Smoked Jalapeno Poppers Recipe with Brisket and Cream Cheese image

When asking my 14-year-old son what he thought of the smoke jalapeno peppers, he described them in a way I had never thought of. He kept talking about the textures, layers of tastes and the heat. These Keto jalapeno poppers include so many different flavors but work oh so well together! These smoked jalapeno peppers include brisket. That's right, BRISKET! Get that protein in and enjoy the savory taste of brisket mixed with cheeses and spices, wrapped in heat than wrapped in crunchy bacon! These cream cheese jalapeno poppers make awesome appetizers for parties, but I like to just eat them for dinner. Make extras and eat them the next day for lunch (that's what I did today!) I am shutting up now and showing you how to make jalapeno poppers, filled with brisket, cream cheese and smoked with bacon.

Number Of Ingredients 8

12 Jalapenos
8 oz of Cream Cheese
1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1/4 Pound Brisket (Pre-cooked)
12 Slices of Bacon
3 Tsp Salt
2 Tsp Pepper
2 Tsp Garlic

Steps:

  • Pre-heat your smoker to 180 degrees

  • Lay peppers onto a baking sheet
  • Salt and pepper the empty jalapeno peppers
  • In a bowl, mix together garlic, the remaining salt and pepper with thawed cream cheese and cheddar cheese
  • Spoon the cheese mixture into each of the jalapeno peppers - when smoking jalapenos - I like to use the entire pepper!
  • Place a few pieces of your smoked brisket onto the jalapeno
  • Wrap each whole pepper with a slice of bacon
  • Place poppers into the smoker for 30 minutes at 180 degrees
  • After 30 minutes, increase the temperature to 375 degree and cook for another 30 minutes
  • Bacon will be crispy when your smoked peppers are done.

SMOKY JALAPENO POPPERS

Smoky Jalapeno Poppers image

Categories     appetizer

Time 30m

Yield 12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

12 jalapeno peppers
1 cup coarsely grated extra sharp Cheddar
1/2 cup coarsely grated Asiago
1/2 cup cream cheese, at room temperature
1 teaspoon smoked hot sauce, such as chipotle-flavored Tabasco
1 cup plain whole wheat breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon smoked Spanish paprika
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
3 large eggs
About 5 cups vegetable oil, such as canola

Steps:

  • Put on your food prep gloves. Slice each jalapeno open lengthwise using a paring knife, then make a small crosswise cut at the stem end to form a T.
  • Insert your (gloved!) fingertip through the top of the opening and gently wiggle the core loose, then remove. Rinse under cold water to remove any additional seeds. Pat dry gently with a paper or clean towel and set aside. Repeat with the remaining peppers.
  • Combine the Cheddar, Asiago, cream cheese and smoked hot sauce in a large bowl until smooth and well blended.
  • Gently nudge the cheese filling into each pepper with a spoon. To close the peppers, gently squeeze each one until it resembles its original shape. Don't worry if the peppers tear a bit, just squeeze them shut.
  • Sift together the breadcrumbs, paprika, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper in a shallow bowl.
  • Lightly beat the eggs in a second shallow bowl.
  • One at a time, hold the peppers by the stems and dip them in the beaten eggs, letting the excess drip off, and roll in the breadcrumbs; dip in the eggs again and reroll in breadcrumbs. Set on a plate to dry slightly.
  • In the meantime, heat 2 1/2 inches of the oil in a Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed cast-iron skillet until a deep-fry thermometer registers 325 degrees F. Add three or four of the jalapeno poppers, making sure not to crowd your pan, and fry in batches until golden and crisp, about 5 minutes. Keep an eye on the temperature of the oil and adjust the heat as necessary so it stays steady.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate; season with salt. Repeat with the remaining poppers and serve immediately.

JALAPENO POPPERS

Categories     appetizer

Time 1h5m

Yield 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 3

20 fresh jalapenos, 2 to 3 inches in size
Two 8-ounce packages cream cheese, slightly softened
1 pound thin (regular) bacon, slices cut in half

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F. Set a wire rack over a baking sheet.
  • If you have them, slip on some latex gloves for the pepper prep. Cut the jalapenos in half lengthwise. With a spoon, remove the seeds and white membranes (the source of the heat; leave a little if you like things HOT). Smear cream cheese into each jalapeno half and then wrap with a bacon piece (1/2 slice). Secure by sticking a toothpick through the middle. Place on the rack in the baking sheet.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes. (You don't want the bacon pieces to shrink so much they start to squeeze the jalapenos.) If after 45 minutes the bacon doesn't look brown enough, just keep cooking until the bacon is sizzling.
  • Serve immediately, or they're also great at room temperature.

SMOKED GOUDA CHORIZO JALAPENO POPPERS

Smoked Gouda Chorizo Jalapeno Poppers image

My family and friends LOVE these poppers! While the Gouda adds a nice smoky dimension, I have made with other cheeses as well...still tastes great. I spray the parchment paper with olive oil spray first. Adapted from The Food Network. Hope you enjoy!

SMOKED CREAM CHEESE CHICKEN JALAPENO POPPERS

Smoked Cream Cheese Chicken Jalapeno Poppers image

These little bites of poppers are absolutely incredible. My brother-in law first made them with beef and cheese so I changed it to my tastes. These are the first to go at parties!! People ask if I'm going to bring them!!

Categories     Poultry

Time 1h

Yield 12 jalapenos, 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

12 fresh jalapenos
6 ounces squeeze packages Philadelphia Cream Cheese
12 pieces of precooked grilled fajita chicken strips
jalapeno, cast iron holder for the grill (found at grill shops or on line)

Steps:

  • Freeze the jalapenos in a baggie in the freezer the night before you want to cook them.
  • Take them out of the freezer, cut off the tops and scrape out the seeds. Much easier when frozen. Freezing them also takes out a bit of the heat.
  • Squeeze 1/2 package of cream cheese into jalapeno.
  • Stuff a piece of grilled chicken strip into cream cheese.
  • Place poppers into holder and put them in the smoker for 45 minutes.
  • Serve while hot as an appetizer.

CAJUN JALAPENO POPPERS

Cajun Jalapeno Poppers image

This recipe came from taste testing poppers all over. I combined what I liked and discarded the rest. You can use fresh peppers or prepackaged peppers (not recommended,to soft). If I use fresh, I sometimes like to slice them in half, leaving the stem, de-vein and seed them and saute' them in my favorite beer to soften them up just a little (2-4 minutes). Another tip is to always use protective cooking gloves when dealing with peppers.

Categories     Cheese

Time 45m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 16

18 fresh fresh jalapeno peppers
6 ounces cream cheese
3 ounces of shredded cheese (cheese of your choice or any mixture, I use 2 or more of the following parmesan, cheddar, colby, ric)
progresso breadcrumbs
1 clove pressed garlic
1/2 ounce olive oil
2 tablespoons finely chopped green onions
1/2 teaspoon chopped cilantro (optional)
12 slices pimientos, finely chopped
3 pinches cayenne pepper (1tablespoon or to taste)
1 ounce finely chopped mushroom (optional)
2 -3 ounces of finely chopped cooked meat (crawfish, ground meat or sausage) (optional)
queso sauce (optional)
sour cream (optional)
picante sauce (optional)
ranch dressing (optional)

Steps:

  • Halve the jalapenos leaving the stem attached, de-vein and seed them.
  • Setting the halved jalapenos and bread crumbs aside, mix all of the other ingredients together.
  • Take your mixture and completely fill the jalepeno cavities to their brim and set aside.
  • Put bread crumbs on a flat plate.
  • Take jalapeno halves, one at a time, and roll cheese side only in bread crumbs and place cheese/crumb side up on a baking pan Once completed if you like a thick crumb layer, you can repeat this step.
  • If you do not intend to bake finished product skip the rolling part and just lightly sprinkle the top of the jalepenos with the bread crumbs.
  • Bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until mixture starts to bubble.
  • I like to refrigerate at least 1 hour prior to baking Sometimes I prepare the day before, cover and refrigerate.
  • Serve warm, room temperature or chilled with any or all of the recommended sauces.

  • Prep. Cook the bacon to the level of doneness you prefer. It will not cook any more once you stuff the jalapeños with the cheese. Let it cool and chop it into bits.
  • Prepare the Home-made Boursin-style Cheese Spread and mix in the bacon, cheddar, and pineapple.
  • Put on rubber gloves to work on the peppers. If you are going to halve them, use a thin sharp filleting or paring knife to cut off the stems and discard them. Then cut the peppers in half lengthwise. Run the blade along the inside wall of the pepper removing the seeds and the white ribs. If you like hot stuff, leave the ribs in. If you are going to leave them whole and cook them in a rack, slice off the stem and cap and use a potato peeler or narrow knife to remove the seed pod inside. It will be hard to remove the ribs this way, so they will be hotter than the sliced peppers.
  • You can cut them in half, remove the seeds, and stuff them as shown at the top of the recipe. The stem is woody and not very good to eat, so you use it as a handle and bite it off just below the cap. Or, you can cut them in half, remove the inedible cap, and keep the cheese from oozing out with an olive as a plug. Hence the name "One-Eyed Jalapeño Poppers". For this option, the olive is not only functional, it tastes great.
