This came in a coupon book with my Taste of Home Magazine. I absolutely love it. My boyfriend and I ate some for supper and froze the rest of it for a quick meal later on.

Steps:
- Cook ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until beef is no longer pink. Stir in seasonings to evenly coat meat; stir in pasta sauce. Set aside.

Add remaining meat sauce, completely covering all the ziti and cheese. Place lid on slow cooker.
- Cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or high for 4 to 5 hours or until noodles are tender.

GLUTEN-FREE BAKED ZITI
I always think of my wife's best friend, Long Island, while thinking about a baked ziti recette. He likes Italian food like many New Yorkers. His wife produces classic Baked Ziti while we are out at his place for supper. It's not gluten-free. I have only a taste.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Heat a pan to medium and add the ground beef to brown.
- Add the chopped onion, red pepper and spices to the ground beef.
- While the beef is browning, boil your pasta. I recommend boiling for 8 minutes, then testing to see if it is al dente. You are going to be baking this, so the pasta will continue to cook and soften while it bakes. You do not want soggy pasta. No one likes soggy pasta.
- While the pasta is cooking, add the two jars of sauce to your ground beef mixture and let simmer until the pasta is cooked.
- Add a ladle full of the sauce mixture to the bottom of a lasagna pan.
- Add a layer of pasta to the lasagna pan, a layer of sauce on top of the pasta and then dollop with ricotta and sprinkle with mozzarella.
- Continue layering pasta, sauce and cheeses until you have filled the pan and/or run out of ingredients.
- Cover with tin foil and bake for 30 minutes or until hot throughout.

- In large heavy-bottomed pot, heat oil over medium-high heat until just smoking. Cook sausage, stirring occasionally to break up large chunks until cooked through and browned, about 7-8 minutes. Add onion and cook until onions are translucent and starting to brown around edges, about 4-5 minutes. Stir in garlic, oregano, fennel, salt, and pepper and cook until fragrant, about 30-60 seconds.
- Reduce heat to Medium-low, and add raw ziti and cook, stirring constantly, until edges of pasta are translucent about 3-4 minutes. Turn off heat and stir in crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce, scraping up any bits from the bottom of the pan. Scrape mixture into prepared slow cooker insert. Cover and cook on low until pasta is tender, about 3 hours.
- Use tongs to remove foil collar from the slow cooker. Spoon ricotta over ziti and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Turn off slow cooker, cover, and let the cheese melt for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with basil and serve.
