Categories     Beverage

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 medium apple ((cored, skin on, chopped into small pieces))
1/2 medium orange ((rind on, sliced into small pieces, large seeds removed // plus more for garnish))
3-4 Tbsp organic brown sugar ((or 3 Tbsp (37.5 g) organic cane sugar as original recipe is written))
3/4 cup orange juice ((plus more to taste))
1/3 cup brandy ((plus more to taste))
750 ml bottle dry Spanish red wine*
~1 cup Ice to chill

Steps:

  • Add apples, oranges, and sugar to a large pitcher and muddle with a muddler or wooden spoon for 45 seconds.
  • Add orange juice and brandy and muddle again to combine for 30 seconds.
  • Add red wine and stir to incorporate, then taste and adjust flavor as needed. I added a bit more brandy, orange juice and brown sugar. Stir to combine.
  • Add ice and stir once more to chill. Serve as is, or with a bit more ice. Garnish with orange segments (optional).
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours, though best when fresh.

Provided by Nina Hendrick

Categories     Drinks

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup Strawberries (sliced)
½ Lemon (sliced)
½ Orange (sliced)
1 Lime (sliced)
½ Apple (sliced)
½ cup sweet fruit juice (orange or cranberry apple)
1/2 cup liquor of choice (tequila, rum, brandy, gin, etc. )
20 oz ginger ale
1 750 ml bottle of red wine (I tend to use Cabernet, but Spanish wine is a great choice!)
1 cup ice (optional for serving)

Steps:

  • Slice all of your fruit.
  • Add half of the sliced fruit to a pitcher. Mash lightly to release juices.
  • Add fruit juice, liquor, ginger ale, and wine.
  • Allow to steep for at least an hour. Six hours is ideal.
  • Add the remainder of the fruit to the sangria when you are ready to serve it. Also, optionally add ice.

BEST RED SANGRIA

Best Red Sangria image

Meet the best sangria you'll ever have! Made with fresh fruit, brandy and red wine, this classic red sangria recipe will hit the spot. It's so easy to make! Recipe yields 1 pitcher; enough for six glasses.

Provided by Cookie and Kate

Categories     Cocktail

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 bottle of affordable Garnacha (also called Grenache) or Pinot Noir or other fruity low-tannin red wine, chilled
1 large orange
1 cup thinly sliced seasonal fruit (I like Granny Smith apple or pear, strawberries, peaches or nectarines, pineapple or a combination)
1 small lemon, sliced into thin rounds
1/2 cup brandy
1 to 2 tablespoons maple syrup*, to taste
Ice, for serving

Steps:

  • To prepare the orange, slice it in half from the stem end downward. Squeeze the juice of one-half of the orange into a pitcher. Thinly slice the remaining orange half and place the slices into the pitcher.
  • Add the prepared seasonal fruit and lemon. Add the brandy and 1 tablespoon of the maple syrup. Pour the wine into the pitcher and stir to combine. Taste, and add another tablespoon of maple syrup if it's not sweet enough for your liking.
  • You can serve this sangria immediately, or let it marinate for 2 to 8 hours for more fruity flavor. Serve in wine glasses with a few ice cubes to keep it chilled. Enjoy!
