Here's what you need: shrimp, paprika, garlic powder, dried oregano, cumin, red pepper flakes, salt, skewers, olive oil, corn tortillas, sour cream, fresh cilantro, lime zest, salt, lime juice, green cabbage, red cabbage, jalapeño, lime wedge, fresh cilantro

2 lb shrimp, deveined & tails removed
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon cumin
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
½ teaspoon salt
24 skewers, bamboo or metal
4 tablespoons olive oil
24 corn tortillas
1 cup sour cream
3 tablespoons fresh cilantro, minced
1 teaspoon lime zest
¼ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 ½ cups green cabbage
1 ½ cups red cabbage
1 tablespoon jalapeño, minced
lime wedge
fresh cilantro

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, season shrimp with paprika, garlic powder, oregano, cumin, red pepper flakes, and salt. Toss gently to combine.
  • Using 2 bamboo or metal skewers, poke through the top and bottom of the shrimp and push down to the bottom of the skewer.
  • Add 3 more shrimp to the same skewer and repeat until all of the shrimp are used.
  • Right before you put the shrimp on the grill, brush each skewer with a generous amount of olive oil, to prevent sticking.
  • Grill over high heat for 3 minutes, brush the top side with more olive oil, flip, and let cook for an additional 3 minutes.
  • Remove from skewers & set aside for taco assembly.
  • In a bowl, combine all creamy cilantro sauce ingredients. Stir well to combine.
  • In a large bowl, combine green cabbage, red cabbage, and minced jalapeño. Pour half of the sour cream mixture over the cabbage, saving the other half for extra sauce to put on the tacos.
  • Assemble the tacos on corn tortillas. Add the cabbage mixture, followed by the shrimp. Top with the creamy cilantro sauce, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime juice.
  • Enjoy!

  • Place avocado, onion, tomatillos, jalapeno pepper, cilantro, garlic, and salt in the bowl of a food processor. Pulse until small chunks remain.
  • Fill resealable plastic bag with shrimp, chili powder, and salt; shake to coat.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Divide salsa, shrimp, and cabbage evenly to fill tortillas. Squeeze lime juice onto each taco.

Shrimp and fish tacos are some of my favorite meals. Here is one that come together fast if you use prepackaged slaw mix and do all the chopping for the tartar sauce in the food processor. Found this recipe in Cuisine at Home.

1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons pickled jalapeno peppers, minced
2 tablespoons red onions, minced
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, minced
1 tablespoon capers, chopped
1 1/2 teaspoons lime juice
1 cup green cabbage, shredded
1 cup red cabbage, shredded
3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
8 corn tortillas
5 teaspoons chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
24 shrimp, peeled and deveined with tails removed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400.
  • Stir together maynnaise, jalapenos, onion, cilantro, capers, and lime juice for the tartar sauce.
  • Wrap tortilla in aluminum foil; warm them in the oven for 10 minute.
  • Toss green and red cabbage in a bowl with 1 Tbs oil. Season with salt and pepper to taste; set asice.
  • Mix chili powder with the 1 1/2 tsp salt; toss with shrimp. Sear shrimp in a large skillet in the remaining oil over high heat until shrimp are cooked through on both sides, about 3 min total.
  • Serve shrimp inside a corn tortilla with cabbage and tartar sauce.

Steps:

  • For Shrimp:.
  • Bring 2 quarts water to boil in large pot.
  • Add shrimp and cook until pink and firm, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove shrimp from water with slotted spoon and place in large mixing bowl. Sprinkle with contents of taco seasoning mix and toss well to coat. Or, put shrimp in plastic bag with seasoning, close bag well, and shake to coat.
  • Serve warm, or refrigerate and serve up to 24 hours later.
