- Cut 1 bunch asparagus into thirds. Heat 2 teaspoons sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cut a 1-inch piece ginger into matchsticks, add to the skillet and cook, stirring, 1 minute. Add 3 cups quartered shiitake mushroom caps and 1 sliced garlic clove and cook, stirring, 2 minutes. Add the asparagus and 1/3 cup water; bring to a boil, cover and cook until crisp-tender, 3 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon each soy sauce and butter; cook, stirring, 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper.

Steps:
- Bring a pot of water to boil, add salt and asparagus and cook for 1 minute.
- Remove and rinse asparagus in cold water, drain well on paper towels.
- In a small bowl whisk together hoisin, rice wine and sesame oil.
- Heat peanut oil in a large skillet.
- Add sesame seeds to center of the pan and cook until the seeds are browned, about 5 minutes.
- Add ginger and garlic and cook 1 minute.
- Add hoisin mixture, asparagus and salt.
- Stir often until asparagus is coated and heated through, 1 minute.

Steps:
- Snap tough ends from asparagus and discard.
- Boil water over high heat in a large frying pan.
- Add Asparagus to boiling water (or alternatively, you can steam the asparagus, which I prefer to do as it stays crunchy).
- Boil for 3 minutes, drain immediately and set aside.
- While asparagus cooks or steams, stir teriyaki with ginger and chili-garlic sauce in a small bowl.
- Return pan with asparagus to burner and reduce heat to medium.
- Add teriyaki mixture.
- Stir often until asparagus is tender-crisp and evenly coated with sauce, 1 to 3 minutes.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Get out the chopsticks it' s chinese for dinner tonight. This recipe goes together easily if you do all the prep work before starting to cook. This is an easy family supper that has everything meat, side and vegetable in one dish.

- In a bowl mix together, soy,rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, chopped ginger, 2 tsps. sesame oil cornstarch and pepper flakes, set aside.
- To 2 cups boiling water andd two beef ramen noodles, 1 seasoning packet, 4 scallions and 1 teaspoons sesame oil. Cook one minute, remove from heat; let stand covered.
- In a large skillet heat oil, add boneless sirloin and garlic and stir fry until lightly browned. Remove beef, keep warm. Add second Tbls. of oil add asparagus; stir fry until done to your taste.
- Add beef and soy mixture to skillet. Stir fry until thickened. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seed and more green onions. Toss with noodles and serve.
SESAME-GINGER ASPARAGUS AND TOFU STIR-FRY
A tasty meatless stir-fry. This is fairly mild, spice-wise. Feel free to add more "heat". Time does not include marinating time.

- Place tofu between several sheets of paper towels on a plate and top with another plate or heavy pan and let sit for 30 minutes to press out liquid. Discard towels and turn tofu block on it's side and slice in half, making halves about 1 inch thick. Place slices in a pie plate or shallow baking dish.
- In a small bowl, mix vinegar, sesame oil, 2 tbls soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic and chili sauce. Pour this mixture over the tofu slices and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 2-4 hours, turning slices over halfway through.
- Wash asparagus and snap off tough ends. Slice spears and tips into 1-inch pieces.
- Remove tofu from marinade and pat dry. Save marinade.
- Mix reserved marinade in a bowl with 1/4 cup soy sauce, lime juice, water and cornstarch.
- Cut tofu slices into 1-inch cubes.
- Heat oil over medium-high heat in wok or large skillet and stir-fry tofu until it begins brown, about 5 minutes. Remove tofu from pan to a plate.
- Add asparagus, green onion and mushrooms to wok or skillet (add more oil if needed) and stir-fry until asparagus is just beginning to be tender, about 6 minutes. Return tofu to pan and stir-fry another minute or two.
- Stir in marinade mixture and bring to a boil, cooking until slightly thickened. Serve at once over rice or noodles.

- Preheat grill for high heat.
- In a bowl, mix sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, and brown sugar. Place asparagus in the bowl, and toss to coat.

- In a food processor, combine everything except the asparagus and mix thoroughly. Set aside.
- Cut the asparagus into 2 inch pieces, on the diagonal.
- Fill a large skillet half full of water; cover and bring to a boil. Add the asparagus and simmer just until crisp-tender, approximately 4 to 5 minutes. Drain well, but do not rinse.
- Transfer to serving bowl. Pour the sauce over the hot asparagus and toss to coat.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
- Special note: This also works well with fresh green beans.

- Combine beef and cornstarch in a large bowl; using your hands, rub to coat well.
- Heat 2 tablespoons peanut oil in a large skillet over high heat; working in batches, add beef in a single layer and cook, undisturbed, until meat begins to blacken on the bottom, about 1 1/2 minutes; turn over and cook until second side browns, about 1 minute; transfer beef to a large plate.
- Heat remaining 2 tablespoons peanut oil and 1 tsp sesame oil in same skillet over medium-high heat; add asparagus, green onions and ginger; saute until vegetables are tinged brown and crisp-tender, about 2 minutes; add broth, fish sauce and sugar; bring to a boil; return beef to skillet and cook until sauce is slightly thickened, about 1 minute.

- In a skillet, heat 1 cup water to boiling over high heat.
- Add asparagus, heat to boiling.
- Reduce heat to medium once it boils.
- Cover and cook for 4-5 minutes or until asparagus is tender-crisp.
- Drain the asparagus in a colander, the nimmediately plunge into a large bowl of ice water to stop it from cooking. Drain the asparagus from the ice water.
- Carely wipe skillet dry with paper towels. Add canola oil, heat it over high heat until hot. Add the asparagus, ginger, soy sauce and crushed red pepper and cook for 1-2 minutes or just until asparagus is heated through.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in sesame seeds and sesame oil. Coat thoroughly.
- Serve immediately.
