Steps:
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
- In a saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Stir in flour, parsley, salt, thyme, pepper, and minced onion until smooth. Gradually add milk and bring to a boil over medium heat. Whisk to keep smooth. Cook and stir for 2 minutes.
- In a greased 2.5 quart casserole dish, layer potatoes and ham with sauce spooned over. Repeat layers (usually 3-4). Top with the remaining sauce.
- Cover and bake for 65-75 minutes or until potatoes are almost tender. Dot with remaining butter and bake, uncovered, for 15-20 minutes longer or until potatoes are fully tender.

- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease an 11 x 7-inch baking dish; set aside.
- In a large pot, melt butter over medium-high heat. Whisk in cream, garlic, and salt. Add peeled, sliced potatoes.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer (uncovered) for about 15 minutes (or until potatoes are tender). Gently stir the potatoes periodically as they cook.
- Add the ham to the potato mixture.
- Transfer to prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle with grated cheese.
- Bake (uncovered) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium high heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Remove saucepan from heat and whisk in milk. Return pan to heat and bring to a simmer while stirring. When sauce has thickened remove from heat, season with salt and pepper and set aside.
- In a skillet, cook onions in melted butter until golden brown. Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread 1/3 of the white sauce in bottom of baking dish and top with half of the potatoes. Spread out half of the onions, ham, cheese and another third of the sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Continue layering ingredients, ending with the remaining cheese on top. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden and bubbly.

- Layer half the potatoes, half the ham, and half the onion in an 2-quart baking dish; repeat the layers.
- Heat milk, peas, flour, butter, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened, 7 to 10 minutes.

- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion; cook and stir until starting to soften, 3 to 4 minutes. Sprinkle flour over onion and whisk together. Cook until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Stir in half-and-half and milk; whisk until thickened, 3 to 4 minutes more. Remove from heat; season sauce with salt and pepper. - Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 9x13 inch pan and set aside. I use my butter wrappers to grease.
- Cook onion and butter over medium low until onion is tender. Add thyme and flour and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Turn heat to low and add milk a little bit at a time, whisking between each addition. The mixture will thicken but as you continue adding and whisking, it will smooth out. Stir in chicken broth, salt, and pepper and bring to a boil. Allow to boil 1 minute.
- Place 1/3 of the potatoes topped with 1/3 of the ham and 1/3 of the sauce. Repeat layers ending with sauce on top.
- Bake covered for 50 minutes. Uncover and bake 25 to 38 minutes longer or until potatoes are tender. Add the cheese during the last 15 minutes if using.
- Cool at least 15 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add sliced potatoes and cook until almost tender, 5 to 10 minutes. Transfer to a colander and rinse with cold water until cool enough to handle. Drain well.

- Layer the bottom the casserole dish with potatoes. Cover the potatoes with a layer of cheese, followed by a light dusting of flour, salt and pepper. Repeat the layering process until all of the ingredients are used up. Pour milk over the entire casserole. Cover with aluminum foil.

- In a bowl, add the canned soups, milk, garlic powder and pepper; stir to mix well.
- In a greased 13x9-inch baking pan, add half the sliced potatoes.
- Toss in half the onions, over the potatoes.
- Pour half the soup mixture over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle half of the cheese over the potatoes.
- Place the sliced ham pieces evenly over the potatoes.
- Add the remaining sliced potatoes, onions, soup mixture, and cheese.
- Cover, and bake in a 375 degree oven for 1 hour.
- After 1 hour, uncover the pan, and continue baking for 30 minutes more.
- Note: Sometimes I'll use ham steaks that come in a 16-oz pkg., which I cut them into 3/4 to 1-inch pieces. (I used John Morrell Ham Steaks, and I used the entire pkg.). Also, I think one could add a bit more garlic powder & white pepper (possibly an 1/8 teaspoon more of each).
