Steps:
- Place the bacon in an even layer in a large skillet. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring often with a rubber spatula, until the bacon is light golden brown, about 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, combine the maple syrup, black pepper and cayenne in a small bowl.
- Pour off some of the rendered bacon fat, leaving just a small amount. Return the skillet to the heat and pour the maple syrup mixture over the bacon. Braise gently until the syrup thickens and glazes the bacon and the bacon is deep golden brown, about 15 minutes. Serve warm.
BACON BITES
This recipe was featured in an email today from the www.kingarthurflour.com website and has gotten rave reviews! Superbowl food!!! :-) "These little savory gems are simple to put together in advance, can go directly from the freezer into the oven, and combine three of the most irresistible snack foods on earth: bread, cheese, and bacon. You can vary the filling in any number of ways (see our tips, below). Make sure you let the bites sit for 5 minutes before serving; the cream cheese gets mighty hot, and you don't want to burn anyone's mouth."

- Mix together the cheeses until smooth. Stir in the peppers and scallions until evenly distributed; set aside.
- Trim the crusts from the slices of bread.
- Once the bread is trimmed, spread the slices with the filling, covering it completely.
- Roll the bread up from the short side, pressing down just enough to make it stick to itself.

- Freeze the wrapped rolls for 30 minutes to firm them up.
- To bake, preheat the oven to 350°F Lightly grease a baking sheet, or line it with parchment paper.
- Slice the rolls in thirds and place on the baking sheet, cut side down. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes (5 minutes longer if baking from frozen), until the bacon is crisp and the tops are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and place on a serving platter; let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

20 BEST SAVORY DESSERTS - INSANELY GOOD
From insanelygoodrecipes.com

- Apple Cheddar Cheese Pie. It’s hard to beat a traditional apple pie, but have you ever tried an apple cheddar cheese pie?! It gives you all the delicate sweetness and tartness of homemade apple pie but with the rich savoriness of cheddar cheese.
- Curry Ice Cream with White Chocolate Drizzle. What’s better than sweet, exceptionally creamy homemade ice cream? Sweet, exceptionally creamy homemade ice cream with a kick, of course!
- Pineapple Jalapeno Ice Cream. Thanks to the jalapeno peppers, this delightful ice cream is cool and refreshing, but it also has plenty of heat. The addition of Greek sea salt adds a bit of saltiness that gives you the perfect sweet and salty combo, as well.
- Bacon Chocolate Toffee. Honestly, I prefer this chocolatey treat under its other name – bacon chocolate crack. I just feel like it describes it better because it is 100% addictive.
- Olive Oil Cake. This “dessert” is the place where lemon cake meets cornbread, and yes, it’s just as phenomenal as it sounds. Dense and crumbly, with bold lemon and vanilla flavors, you won’t know whether to serve this for dessert or with milk as a light but filling snack.
- Bacon Brownies. If you’re a fan of bacon, maple syrup, cocoa powder, chocolate, sugar, and more, you’ll love these bacon brownies. They’re entirely decadent and have the perfect mixture of sweet and salty, soft and gooey, but with a wonderful crunch from the bacon.
- Sesame Tahini Cookies. These crunchy, nutty cookies are ideal if you’re looking for a dessert that’s still a dessert but not overly sweet. The vanilla and honey add lightness to them, but the tahini, almond flour, and sesame seeds help balance that out with something more savory and hearty.
- Blueberry, Goat Cheese, and Basil Pie. If you prefer desserts that are tart and tangy to sweet and sugary, you have to try this blueberry, goat cheese, and basil pie.
- Chocolate Peanut Butter Bacon Cake. In case you haven’t realized it already, I may be a bit partial to bacon and chocolate. If you’ve tried it yourself, you understand.
- Jalapeno Popper Cheesecake. Once you try jalapeno popper cheesecake, it’s hard to decide what to like better about it – the taste, or the lovely, minty green color on the inside.
