This recipe is a little different from others in that it uses worcestershire sauce in the egg mix. We love how it gives the chops a little extra "zing." We usually have this with a green vegetable and potatoes. I've also listed a variation of this recipe to make a cheese-topped pork chop. Note: If you're making the chops without cheese, you might want to try learninscratch's directions for a delicious orange sauce -- they can be found in her review.

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 -2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup unseasoned breadcrumbs
4 boneless pork loin chops
2 tablespoons oil
cooking spray, such as Pam

Steps:

  • In small bowl, combine flour, salt, paprika and pepper; mix well. In another small bowl, combine egg and worcestershire sauce. Coat pork chops with seasoned flour; dip in egg mixture and coat with crumbs.
  • In large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat until hot. Add chops; cook until browned on both sides. Reduce heat to medium; cook 5-7 minutes or until pork is no longer pink in center.
  • For oven-baked pork chops: Prepare as directed above. Place in a shallow baking pan that has been sprayed with a cooking oil such as Pam. Bake at 425 degrees F. for 30-35 minutes or until no longer pink in center.
  • To make a cheese-topped pork chop: Decrease bread crumbs to 1/4 cup. Mix crumbs with 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese. When chops are thoroughly cooked, top each with a slice of mozzarella cheese and tomato slice. Cover; heat until tomato is hot and cheese begins to melt.

2 teaspoons crushed garlic cloves
1 tablespoon flour
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can tomato soup
1/2 cup water
1/4 teaspoon Kitchen Bouquet

Steps:

  • From the drippings (at least 2 T of oil) and brown bits from Recipe #32541 add butter, onions, and garlic. Sautee onions till just turning brown.
  • Add flour and stir till a light brown roux.
  • Add water slowly.
  • Add one can of tomato soup.
  • Stir and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Add Kitchen bouquet for color.
  • Serve with breaded pork chops.

1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 bone-in pork loin chops (1 inch thick and 7 ounces each)
1 egg
2 tablespoons water
1/2 cup crushed saltines (about 15 crackers)
3 teaspoons butter, divided
3 teaspoons canola oil, divided
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons cider vinegar

  • In a resealable plastic bag, combine the flour, salt and pepper. Add pork chops, one at a time, and shake to coat. In a shallow bowl, beat egg and water. Dip chops in egg mixture, then coat with cracker crumbs. , In a nonstick skillet, cook pork in 1-1/2 teaspoons butter and 1-1/2 teaspoons oil over medium heat for 10 minutes. , Meanwhile, for sauce, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar and mustard in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 2 minutes. Set aside and keep warm., Remove chops from skillet. Saute onion in remaining butter and oil for 1 minute. Return pork to the pan; top with sauce. 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup finely chopped onions

  • Sprinkle the chops with salt and pepper.

1 teaspoon garlic powder

I always hated pork chops growing up, only ever eating a dried out, fried, and breaded chop. I refuse to make them this way. These are delicious and the sauce is very good over the rice.

2 (10 3/4 ounce) cans cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup ketchup
6 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 1/2 cups prepared rice (I just use minute rice)

Steps:

  • Add half of the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce in a ziplock bag with the pork chops.
  • Set in refridgerator for 15-45 minutes.
  • Mix remaining ingredients in bowl.

It's not the healthiest recipe, but it's worth the splurge once in awhile when you're craving something oh so yummy! I like to serve this with Mashed Potatoes & Green Bean Casserole for a complete home cooked meal.

6 large bone in pork chops (or boneless - opt.)
1 c plain bread crumbs (or seasoned - opt.)
2 eggs
2 Tbsp milk
1 c chicken broth/bouillion
1 small onion (sliced in half rings)
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp salt and pepper
1 pinch paprika, sweet mild
3 Tbsp oil (or bacon grease for added flavor)
1 large electric skillet

Steps:

  • 1. Pre-season pork chops with salt/pepper & rub into meat. In a large bowl mix together egg and milk. In another bowl add bread crumbs/flour, and garlic salt/paprika. Stir together until well blended.
  • 2. Pre-heat oil in Electric Skillet. Dip both sides of pork chops in egg mixture, then into breadcrumb mixture & add to pan. Repeat until done with all 6 chops. Fry until really brown & crispy. After they're browned add 1/2 cup of chicken bouillion around the chops and onions either on top or around them in the bouillion. (Your preference). Turn pan down & simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Check periodically if chops seem too dry add the other 1/4 - 1/2 cup of bouillion. Cut to check doneness after 1 1/2 hrs. They should fall apart with a fork. If not then cook for another 15-20 mins longer. Serve on platter & spoon the sauce/onions on top. Enjoy.

PAN-FRIED BREADED PORK CHOPS



Pan-Fried Breaded Pork Chops image

Look for beautiful good-quality pork, such as Berkshire, and ask for center-cut loin chops with bone. For the bread crumbs, use day-old firm white sandwich bread or French loaf, cubed and whirled in a food processor, for about three cups of soft, fluffy crumbs. Dry, fine store-bought crumbs will not yield the same result. Make sure to fry these chops very gently over medium-high heat, to allow the bread-crumb coating to brown slowly, creating a crisp, golden crust. Serve with a tart salad or braised greens, such as broccoli rabe.

  • Combine eggs and milk in a low, flat bowl. Season with salt, pepper and the small pinch of cayenne.
  • Sprinkle flour generously over the chops on both sides, then shake off excess.
  • Submerge the floured chops in the egg mixture, and turn them over several times to coat well. Leave chops in egg mixture for 5 minutes.
  • Use your left hand to remove a chop from the batter and drain off excess liquid. Place chop on a baking sheet and, with your right hand, heavily sprinkle with bread crumbs on both sides. Repeat with remaining chops.
  • Sprinkle each chop again with crumbs, patting with your hand to make sure crumbs adhere and coat well. Refrigerate, uncovered, until ready to fry.
  • Set a wide cast-iron or other heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Add clarified butter to a depth of 1/2 inch. When butter is hot, lay in the chops without crowding, and let them fry very gently, about 4 to 5 minutes per side, until beautifully golden brown. (Turn down heat if they seem to be browning too fast.) If your pan is small, cook in 2 batches and keep finished chops warm in a 250-degree oven.
  • Blot cooked chops on paper towels. Transfer to a warm platter or individual plates. Serve with lemon wedges.

Serve the chops and sauce on top of cooked pasta with a side order of recipe#105726 or recipe#152138 --- if you like lots of sauce then increase the tomato sauce by 1 cup or a little more.

  • Heat oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Brown the chops on both sides then remove to a plate.
  • Add in more oil if needed to the skillet and add in onions, garlic, green bell pepper, oregano, basil and dryed chili flakes (if using) saute for about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add in the tomatoes with juice and tomato sauce; mix with a spoon and bring to a boil and simmer over medium-low heat for about 30-40 minutes (you can cook this for up to 1-1/2 hours if desired before adding in the chops, it only gets richer and thicker the longer the sauce is cooked for!).
  • Add in the browned pork chops and cook uncovered over medium-low heat for about another 25 minutes, or until the chops are cooked to desired tenderness.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve on cooked spaghetti and top with Parmesan cheese.
