SOUTHWESTERN BACKYARD BURGERS

- In a large bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Crumble beef and sausage over mixture and mix well. Shape into eight patties. , Grill, covered, over medium heat for 5-7 minutes on each side or until no longer pink. Top with cheese. Grill 1 minute longer or until cheese is melted. , Grill buns, cut side down, for 1-2 minutes or until toasted. Serve burgers on buns with lettuce, tomato and toppings.

- Preheat grill to medium heat. Mix meat and 2 Tbsp. of the barbecue sauce. Shape into six patties. Remove 2 Tbsp. of the remaining barbecue sauce; place in small bowl. Set aside to spread onto the buns as directed just before serving.
- Grill patties 15 to 18 min. or until cooked through (160°F), turning the patties over after 8 min. and adding the onions to the grill for the last 4 min. of the meat grilling time, brushing the onions and burgers occasionally with the remaining 1/4 cup barbecue sauce for the last few min. of the grilling time.
- Spread cut sides of buns with the reserved 2 Tbsp. barbecue sauce. Fill with lettuce, burgers and onions.

- Fire up the grill. In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, 2 tablespoons of the salsa and the taco seasoning mix; mix well. Shape the mixture into 4 patties, 1/2 inch thick.
- When ready to grill, place the patties on a gas grill over medium heat or on a charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals. Cook 11 to 13 minutes or until the patties are thoroughly cooked, turning once.
- Place 1 slice of cheese on each patty; cook an additional 1 minute or until cheese is melted. You might want to toast the buns slightly on the grill at the same time.
- Place the patties on the bottom halves of the buns. Top each with 1 tablespoon of the salsa and add the top portion of the bun.

- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, taco seasoning mix, bell pepper and onion using your hands. Form into 6 patties.

SOUTHWESTERN BURGER
These tasty, low fat burgers use extra-lean ground beef combined with mashed black beans to reduce fat content and make moist, flavorful patties. The jalapeno pepper, cumin and cilantro add a nice little kick. Use a hotter chile pepper if you prefer, or omit it altogether if you want a more subtle flavor.
