Time 2h15m

Yield 3 litres

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 cups pineapple chunks
2 Granny Smith apples, cored and cut into cubes
2 unpeeled lemons, thinly sliced
2 unpeeled limes, thinly sliced
1 cup green seedless grapes
1 cup red seedless grapes
1 small unpeeled orange, thinly sliced
1.5 liter red wine, such as cabernet sauvignon, merlot or pinot noir, chilled
1.5 liter dry white wine, such as chardonnay, sauvignon blanc or pinot grigio, chilled
1 cup orange or citrus flavored rum
1 cup orange or citrus flavored vodka
1 cup sugar
Ice, for serving

Steps:

  • Place the fruit in a large vat. Pour in the red wine, white wine, citrus rum and citrus vodka. Next, to add a subtle sweetness, dissolve the sugar in 1 cup water and add it to the mix. CLASSIC SPANISH SANGRIA

Classic Spanish Sangria image

This is an authentic version of the popular wine drink. You can add any fruit that you want, but I find that apples and pears absorb all the rum. This one is not diluted with carbonated beverages. I have much success with red Burgundy wine and white rum, though spiced rum is nice too.

  • Add the Sweet Vermouth, Cognac, and red wine . If adding sugar, add it now . We did not add the sugar and it was delicious and sweet enough with it.
  • Using a long-handled wooden spoon, stir the mixture well, approximately 15 to 20 seconds. Pepe also pressed down on the fruit rinds, with the wooden spoon, to help release the flavors as he stirred.
