OWENS SAUSAGE AND GROUND BEEF BACKYARD BURGERS
This recipe was included in an ad in my local paper. It sounded so good that we had to try it. We used Owens rolled sausage since I had the coupon. It was great, but I'm sure other sausage brands would work too! The recipe originally said to make 8 patties, but they ended up so small that I decided next time I will make 6 larger patties. We used regular flavored sausage, but my husband and I love spicy food, so I can't wait to try this recipe using hot flavored sausage. Be sure to have all your favorite burger toppings on hand like lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, etc.**Update - made these patties for the 4th of July and used 96/4 extra lean hamburger since the sausage is so "fatty". Doubled the recipe and made 12 patties. They came out just the right size. Huge hit with all the guests! Many tried to guess the "secret ingredient" and were amazed when I told them it was breakfast sausage mixed with the beef.

SAUSAGE, CABBAGE, AND RED ONION GALETTE
I found this recipe in Woman's Day. I have posted it as printed in the magazine, but I used regular ground sausage since I do not care for some of the spices in Italian sausage (personal preference). This made four healthy servings, and we really liked it. It was a nice quick dinner.

GROUND BEEF AND SAUSAGE PIE (PASTRY OR POTATO TOPPED)
This can also be topped with cooked mashed potatoes instead of the pastry, the filling can also be made in one 10-inch deep-dish pie plate topped with pastry instead of a casserole dish. If you are topping this with mashed potatoes then bake in a shallow baking dish instead of a casserole dish. Prep time does not include preparing the pastry. This is really good!

SOUTHWESTERN BACKYARD BURGERS
Whether you're in the stadium parking lot or on your patio, these Southwestern-style burgers are great on the grill. Sometimes I make six patties rather than eight because I like my burgers bigger and better! -Robert Hodges, San Diego, California

HOMEMADE BREAKFAST SAUSAGE
You may use beef or pork or a combination of both. You may use splenda instead of brown sugar or maple syrup. You will have to use a little more splenda. If you have fresh herbs the flavor is more intense. This is a make ahead recipe and freeze if desired. I used to make this with ground vension and ground pork. The kids loved it.
