Use vanilla sugar as a sweetener to add another layer of flavor. Moroccans like their coffee quite strong. Use less coffee if you prefer a lighter brew. 4 BEST SUBSTITUTES FOR ORANGE BLOSSOM WATER - MISS VICKIE

From missvickie.com
  • Orange Oil. Orange oil is one of the more popular replacements for orange flower water in nearly any recipe. It is likely the most common of all which we’re discussing on this list, which is a good reason why it’s such a great alternative.
  • Orange Zest. Another completely natural and relatively healthy replacement for orange blossom water is orange zest. This specific ingredient is extracted by grating or peeling the outer layer of the orange peel.
  • Orange Extract. This ingredient is very identical to orange oil in more than a few ways. It’s the flavor extracted from an orange. While this extraction process usually takes place with the help of alcohol, there are other methods too which don’t involve the substance that might be a bit more helpful for some.
  • Orange Liqueur. While this may be a rare alternative, it can certainly be an interesting one that is tried out a lot. Orange liqueur of just about any kind can serve as a good replacement for orange blossom water, although it must be mentioned that this is an alcoholic substance that shouldn’t be used in recipes if children are going to eat the food being prepared too.

  • Orange Zest is the Best. Orange zest is shavings or peels from the outer part of the fruit. While zest isn’t a liquid like a flower in water, it does have the same strong citrus flavor and aroma.
  • Orange Oil is a Close Comparison. Orange oil is the extraction of oil from the rinds cell. This is the most potent form of the extracted oils and is the only oil extracted as a by-product of the fruit.
  • Orange Extract is an Amazing Option. Many people confuse orange oil with orange extract. But they are, in fact, two different products. Each provides a powerful orange flavor and smell, but the extract is much closer in texture.
  • Use the Orange Juice in the Fridge. Most orange juices are full of added sugars, which is going to be much sweeter than natural extract. Yet, if you want to use them in recipes that need to be sweet anyways, this is a great replacement.
  • Orange Liqueur Works Very Well. Orange liqueur is a popular spirit made from oranges with a sweet flavor profile. The flavor in this product typically comes from dried orange peels, zest, or oil.
  • Use Other Citrus Fruit Extracts. If you are in a bind and don’t have orange flower water on hand, you can always use lemon or lime extracts instead. This option might not offer the exact same flavor, but it will give your recipe a nice citrus touch.
  • Make Your Own Orange Flower Water. Get recipe: tastessence.com. Why buy orange flower water when you can make it yourself? Making this ingredient is easy and can happen from the comfort of your kitchen.
