SIMPLE SUGAR SCRUB

Simple Sugar Scrub image

This a simple to make and easy to use sugar scrub. You may have seen simmilar versions selling in chain stores that are expensive. However, this is simple to make and easy to make variations of. Its good for exfoliating any part of your body and seems to work well on my sensitive skin. It makes my skin soft without having to spend a lot which is important when you are a broke student! I hope you enjoy! This originally callled for one cup olive oil, but i have since changed it to 1/2 cup to reflect the reccomendations of others.

Time 5m

Yield 1 Jar

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 clear plastic jar
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
lemon juice (optional)
scented essential oil (optional)

Steps:

  • mix the sugar and olive oil in the plastic container. I do not recomend using a glass jar for this, since you will most likely have this in your bathroom.
  • add any optional scents you like. I have discovered that adding peppermint oil or orange oil helps refresh you, while lavender is more soothing. My favorite oil to use is sandlewood.
  • to use: place some on a wash cloth and rub in circles anywhere you need exfoliation. After letting it sit for awhile the sugar may settle to the bottom, so it may be necessary to shake this up a little before using.

  • Dry Skin Honey & Brown Sugar Face Scrub. Honey and sugar are natural humectants (moisture preservers) that make a gentle scrub to buff away flakes, clear out pores, and lock in moisture.
  • Perk Up Parched Skin with a Coffee Face Scrub. Leftover coffee grounds are mild enough to use for all over the body scrub—even on sensitive areas like the face.
  • Hydrate Skin with Almond Jojoba Scrub. Another easy to find kitchen ingredient is raw almonds, which makes a soothing and hydrating cleansing scrub. While you will need to grind them very finely in a coffee grinder or food processor, the end result will be skin smoother than when you started.
  • Brighten Complexion with Berry + Olive Oil Scrub. Strawberries and lemons are both sources of vitamin C, which helps fade skin discoloration and boost radiance.
  • Smooth Dry Patches With Sage Polish. This scrub whisks away unwanted dry patches while sage’s vitamin A helps generate new skin cells for softer, healthier skin.
  • Baking Soda Facial Scrub Add-In. With its superfine texture, baking soda acts like an at-home microdermabrasion for all skin types. This inexpensive ingredient also absorbs excess oil, so it’s especially helpful for oily skin.
  • Brightening Rice Flour Facial Scrub. Ground rice powder makes an excellent cleanser for brightening complexions and lightening skin discolorations. Brown rice flour scrubs help polish away dead skin cells and helps lessen the appearance of acne marks for acne-prone skin.
  • Glowing Skin Turmeric Scrub. Despite its reputation for staining whatever it comes into contact with, turmeric actually works to even out your natural skin tone.
  • Banish Blemishes with a Tomato Scrub. Tomatoes are full of blemish busting vitamin A, which speeds up cell turnover to reveal a clear complexion. Plus they’re a natural oil-controlling astringent.
  • Nix Acne with Nutmeg Scrub. The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of nutmeg help reduce redness and unclog pores. The baking soda and lactic acid in whole milk provide help whisk away dry skin and excess oil.
