In large bowl, beat shortening, brown sugar, milk or cream, and vanilla on medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Add egg. Beat well. Stir together flour, salt and baking soda. Gradually add dry ingredients to sugar mixture, beating at low speed, just until well mixed. Stir in chocolate, toffee chips (and nuts, if desired). Drop by rounded tablespoons 3" apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. (These cookies spread a bit more than regular chocolate chip cookies.) Bake 10-11 min, or until cookies are set. HEATH BAR COOKIES
A perfect recipe for anybody who likes toffee. The cookies have a wonderful crisp texture and overall toffee flavor while the chunks of toffee in the cookie itself are to die for. Skor bars work just as well, though I suggest using whole bars and crushing them over the bagged toffee bits since the chocolate makes a big difference. When you crush them up try to leave pieces of all different sizes, from crumbs to a few really big chunks and lots of in-betweens. These cookies also do well with 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped and added with the toffee.

Steps:
- Sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda. Set aside. In a separate bowl, combine toffee pieces and chopped walnuts. Set aside.
- Cream butter until fluffy. Add the sugar and continue to beat until light and fluffy (a couple minutes). Beat in eggs one at a time, and vanilla.
- Alternatively mix in the Heath Bar mixture and the flour mixture, a third at a time, until well blended. Chill cookie dough for at least 30 minutes (better an hour).
- Preheat oven to 350°F On cookie sheets lined with parchment paper, spoon out the cookie dough in small 1-inch diameter balls (size of a large marble). Place dough balls 3 inches away from each other on the cookie sheets. (Make sure there is plenty of room between the cookie balls, and that the cookie balls aren't too big. These cookies spread!).
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are just starting to brown. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes. Then transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

- Chocolate Peanut Butter-Fudge Bars. Peanut butter and chocolate together is a tale as old as time, and these bars give you the perfect amount of each. Wait until the top layer of chocolate firms up to get the best slice.
- Buttery Pineapple Crumble Bars. The name says it all. Think all the sweet pineapple flavor of upside-down cake, but in buttery hand-held form. This recipe's buttery crumble is twice as good as it sandwiches the pineapple filling.
- Magic Cookie Bars. You might recognize these from your grandmother's kitchen. They're basically a melt-in-your-mouth chocolate-coconut dream. Make these cookie bars custom to your preferences by substituting walnuts for pecans or white or dark chocolate for bittersweet chocolate chops.
- Blackberry-Peach Cobbler Bars. Your favorite Southern cobbler got a makeover that features all the fresh fruity goodness in bite-sized pieces. Top these cobbler-inspired treats with toffee-glazed pecan pieces.
- No-Bake Fudgy Toffee Bars. Don't even bother turning on the oven. This recipe delivers ooey, gooey, caramelly layered bars with a no-bake option. The most complicated part of this recipe is combing the cream and sugar, be mindful not to let it boil.
