Ingredients

1 lb mushroom
3 tablespoons butter
1/4 teaspoon marjoram
salt and pepper
1 pinch nutmeg
1 lemon, juice of
1 1/4 cups sour cream
6 slices bread, toasted

Steps:

Clean and slice mushrooms.
Saute in hot butter for 2 minutes over hight heat.
Remove from heat.
Add marjarum, nutmet, lemon juice, salt& pepper.
Place over low heat, add sour cream.
Heat but do not let it come to a boil.
Serve over sliced toast.

A few minutes under the broiler -- plus a heavy sprinkling of fontina cheese -- transforms sliced mushrooms into a flavorful (and deliciously gooey) side dish.

Ingredients

6 ounces cremini and shiitake mushrooms, thinly sliced
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
3 thyme sprigs
3/4 cup coarsely grated fontina cheese (2 ounces)

Steps:

Preheat broiler. Arrange mushrooms in a single layer in a baking dish. Drizzle with oil, and sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon salt and some pepper. Broil for 2 minutes. Remove dish from oven, and add thyme and cheese. Broil for 1 minute. Serve warm.
