1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts
2 squares Baker's Unsweetened Baking Chocolate Squares

Steps:

  • Mix all together and spread in buttered 8 x 8 x 2 tin. Bake 25 minutes and cut in 2-inch squares while still warm.

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon cream
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
rind of one lemon, grated
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder

Steps:

  • Blend together 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup sugar. Add 1 egg and 1 tablespoon cream. Grate rind of lemon and 1/2 teaspoon of lemon flavoring and add to mixture. Add 1-1/2 cups flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon baking powder. Chill for 2 to 3 hours (better when chilled overnight). Roll very thin and cut with dough cutter. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in 375°F oven.

2 cups coconut
2 to 2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups whole wheat cereal

Steps:

  • Sift and measure 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and 2 cups Wheaties®. Blend shortening and sugar. Add beaten eggs. Add coconut. Sift flour, soda, baking powder, and salt together and add to mixture. Blend in vanilla and then Wheaties®. Roll in balls the size of a walnut and bake 12 minutes in 400°F oven.

1 package frozen lima beans
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup fresh sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Cook baby lima beans in salted water. Drain thoroughly. Put small amount of butter in saucepan and melt. Add mushrooms and sear for 5 minutes. Add flour and milk to make thick sauce. Add grated cheese and let melt. Season with salt, chili powder, and pepper. Add lima beans and serve very hot.

These are my all time favorite cookies. My grandmother has been making these longer than I have been around! I believe that her mother got the recipe on a trip to California. Be sure not to brown them, you DO NOT want to over bake them. The yield is approx along with the servings, the recipe is so big!

2 cups brown sugar
2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups butter or 1 1/2 cups margarine
5 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
5 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
4 cups wheat flakes cereal
12 ounces chocolate chips (more or less depending on your taste)

Steps:

  • Cream the butter and sugars.
  • Add eggs one at a time.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Continue to cream while you combine all the dry ingredients, minus the Wheaties and chocolate chips. Run a whisk through to incorporate everything.
  • Slowly add flour mixture to wet ingredients.
  • Using a wooden spoon and some elbow grease, pour in the Wheaties and chocolate chips and combine.
  • Drop onto lightly buttered (that's what Grandma did!) cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 350°F for approximately 8 minutes or until very light brown. DO NOT OVER BAKE.

Steps:

  • Grease pans. Mix and sift flour and salt. Combine eggs, milk, and shortening. Gradually add to flour mixture, beating about one minute or until batter is smooth. Fill greased sizzling hot pans about three-quarters full and bake in very hot oven (450°F) about 20 minutes. Reduce heat to moderate (350°F) and continue baking for 15 or 20 minutes.

1 box frozen strawberries or 2 cups fresh strawberries, sweetened to taste
1 cup whipping cream
1 cool puff pastry shell
__PASTRY SHELL
1 cup flour
2 tablespoons shortening
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons cold water
1 tablespoon sugar

Steps:

  • Put marshmallows in double boiler. Add 2 tablespoons strawberry juice. Cook until marshmallows are dissolved. Mix strawberries and marshmallows thoroughly. Chill about 2 hours. Fold whipped cream into marshmallow mixture and pour into pastry shell. Chill until firm. __PASTRY SHELL Roll into 10-inch pie pan. Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes.

1 tablespoon lemon extract
6 lbs peaches, ripe

Steps:

  • Peel and slice peaches. about 24 of them.
  • Bring sugar and water to a boil.
  • Cook for 5 minutes or till a syrup forms.
  • Skim off any foam.
  • Stir in peaches.
  • Return to a boil.
  • Watch for boiling over.
  • Boil for 5 minutes stirring constantly.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Skim off any foam.
  • Add extracts. add salt.
  • Fill clean sterilized jars.
