Sweet, tart, and fresh flavours collide in this refreshing healthy smoothie recipe. Pineapple, cucumber, and mint (plus more) blend together to make a quick breakfast or snack with no added sugar.

2 heaping cups (10 oz) pineapple, frozen or fresh
1 heaping cup (7 oz) English cucumber, sliced
1 cup (packed) fresh baby spinach
1 small sweet apple (like Gala), cored and chopped
10-15 mint leaves (and stems), depending on leaf size and preferred mintiness *(see first note)
1 cup cold water
4-6 ice cubes, if using fresh pineapple

Steps:

  • Place all the ingredients in a high-powered blender and blend until smooth.
  • Once blended, taste and adjust according to preferences such as adding more mint for a stronger mint flavour or pineapple and/or apple for additional sweetness.
  • Best served immediately.

3 cups frozen pineapple (or fresh, peeled and cubed)
1/2 banana
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup milk (or almond milk or oat milk)*
5 ice cubes
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lime juice (or lemon juice)

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients except 1 cup frozen pineapple in a blender. Blend until smooth, stopping and stirring as necessary.
  • Add the final cup of frozen pineapple and blend again. Eat immediately or store in a sealed jar for 1 day.

1/2 cup chopped mango
1/2 cup chopped pineapple
1/2 cup nonfat high-protein plain Greek yogurt or kefir
4 mint leaves, torn into pieces

  • Place all the ingredients and 3 ice cubes in a blender and blend on high speed for about 60 seconds or until smooth.
  • Pour into a chilled glass and enjoy.

This is also the recipe to say goodbye - to stomach problems - mint has a soothing effect on the digestive tract, relieving symptoms of indigestion, cucumber too is high in fibre, also good for digestive health and pineapple contains a digesting enzyme that is unique to pineapples, Bromelain. Bromelain is know to be good for brain health, also, when you are cooking one of our delicious meat recipes, the meat can be tenderized with pineapple because the Bromelain breaks down the meat proteins. Cucumbers are cool too, they are mainly water, 95% in fact, making them ideal for hydration. Cucumbers contain polyphenols called lignans which are considered helpful in lowering the risk of breast, ovarian and prostate cancers. Be prepared to be bowled over by this smoothie!

100 g cucumbers, roughly chopped
1 tablespoon chia seeds
15 ml maple syrup
50 g pineapple, cut into chunks
1 cup mint leaf
62 1/2 ml yoghurt

Steps:

  • Puree cucumber, yoghurt, mint leaves, and maple syrup in a blender. Cut the fresh Pineapple in half, cut the pineapple into chunks and use the halves as bowls.
  • Transfer to the pineapple bowl, add chia seeds, and chill for about an hour.
  • Top with fresh pineapple chunks.

The pineapple in this drink will give you your daily requirement for manganese, and it's a good source of vitamins C, B1, B6, copper and dietary fiber.

1 heaped cup (1/4 large or 1/2 small) chopped, cored fresh pineapple
1 medium ripe banana
3/4 cup plain low-fat yogurt, almond beverage or rice beverage
6 fresh mint leaves (more to taste)
1 teaspoon mild honey (check the beverage you're using to see if it's sweet first; you may not need the honey)
2 or 3 ice cubes

Steps:

  • Place all of the ingredients in a blender with 2 or 3 ice cubes and blend at high speed until smooth.
