Grandmom's recipe for a fabulous summer citrus-mint tea using fresh mint. Kids and adults alike love it! You can add Kentucky bourbon when the guest list is all adults. Serve over ice.

Steps:
- Bring sugar and 1 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring until sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Add tea bags and mint to sugar mixture; let steep for 10 minutes. Strain mixture and discard tea bags and mint.
- Combine tea mixture, cold water, orange juice, and lemon juice in a pitcher.

MINT JULEPS
Sit on the front porch in your rocking chair on a sultry afternoon and sip on one or two of these. The proper way to serve a mint julep is in a frozen silver goblet, but you can use glasses instead--just use the most elegant ones you have! You can make the syrup ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for whenever the julep mood strikes you.

- Combine water, sugar and chopped mint leaves in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Allow syrup to cool, approximately 1 hour. Pour syrup through a strainer to remove mint leaves
- Fill eight cups or frozen goblets with crushed ice and pour 4 ounces of bourbon and 1/4 cup mint syrup in each. (Proportions can be adjusted depending on each person's sweet tooth). Top each cup with a mint sprig and a straw. Trim straws to just barely protrude from the top of the cups. Serve juleps on a silver platter.

- Make Tea:
- Bring water, mint, and sugar to a boil in a 4-to 5-quart saucepan, stirring until sugar has dissolved, then simmer, uncovered, 15 minutes. Cool completely, about 1 hour. Strain through a sieve into a large pitcher, pressing on and then discarding mint.
- Make cocktails:
- Fill 8 (8-ounces) glasses halfway with ice. Add 2 tablespoons bourbon to each glass, then top off with mint tea.

- To make the Mint Simple Syrup, bring the sugar and water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Boil, stirring often, for 5 minutes or until sugar dissolves.
- Remove from heat, add mint, and let cool completely.
- Pour syrup into a glass jar, then cover and chill 24 hours. Remove the mint and discard.
- To make the drink, place mint leaves and Mint Simple Syrup in a chilled julep cup. Gently press the leaves against the cup with the back of a spoon to release flavors.
- Pack the cup tightly with crushed ice and pour the bourbon over ice. Insert a 4-inch cocktail straw, place mint sprig directly next to straw, and sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.
- Serve immediately.

- In a sauce pan combine the one cup of water, one cup of sugar and one cup of mint leaves. Bring to a boil, stir until sugar dissolves and remove the pan from the heat. Leave the mint leave in the mixture to steep for about 20 minutes. Strain the mint leaves out and discard and pour the simple syrup into a glass container, preferably with a pouring spout. This recipe can be doubled or tripled. Simple syrup can be made one day ahead and kept in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.
- Combine the tea and bourbon in a pitcher. Pour the tea and bourbon mixture over crushed ice in individual glasses. Stir about one tablespoon (more or less depending on preference) of the mint simple syrup into each glass of bourbon-spiked iced tea. Serve each drink with fresh mint leaves and lime slices.
