Use your sour milk to make a loaf of bread that everyone will enjoy. A simple, easy bread machine recipe.

1 ⅛ cups milk
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast

Steps:

  • Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select regular white bread cycle; press Start.

This is my family's favorite bread machine recipe. You can bake it in your bread machine but I prefer to do it the way the recipe reads. I don't care for the way my machine bakes bread. Make sure all of your ingredients are at room temperature before starting.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup water
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
3 1/3 cups bread flour
2 teaspoons yeast

Steps:

  • Put ingredients in bread machine according to your machine's manufacturing directions and set the dough cycle.
  • When done, remove and seperate into 3 sections.
  • Roll each section out like snakes and mesh ends together.
  • Braid and press ends together.
  • Place in baking dish and allow to rise for 25-30 minutes.
  • Brush melted butter or egg white on top after rising.
  • Bake at 340 degrees for 30-45 minutes, until top is golden brown.
  • If a better crust is wanted: Heat some water in an oven proof container in the microwave until near boiling. Then place water in the oven beside the bread.

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
4 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon gluten, plus
1 teaspoon gluten
2 teaspoons salt
2 1/2 teaspoons fast rising yeast (or 1 T. bread machine yeast)

Steps:

  • Place all the ingredients into the pan according to the order in the manufacturer's directions.
  • Set crust on medium or dark, and program for the Basic cycle; press Start.
  • When the baking cycle ends, immediately remove the bread from the pan and place it on a rack.
  • Let cool to room temperature before slicing.

1 1/2 teaspoons salt
