WARM COMFORT
Steps:
- Place 2 chamomile tea bags in a heatsafe vessel, such as a large liquid measuring cup. Pour in 1 ½ cups boiling water, and let steep 5 minutes, then remove tea bags.
- Add 1 ½ oz. reposado tequila, ¾ oz. fresh lemon juice, and 1 Tbsp. agave nectar and stir until incorporated. Pour into a 16-ounce insulated mug (or two smaller 8-ounce mugs) and drink hot.

Steps:
- For the turmeric syrup, combine ½ cup hot water and ¼ cup sugar in a liquid measuring cup or mason jar. Add ¾ tsp. ground turmeric and stir-or seal and shake-until sugar is completely dissolved. (This makes enough syrup for 4 drinks. Syrup can be used immediately or refrigerated, covered, up to 10 days. Shake or stir before using to reincorporate turmeric.)
- For the toddy, combine 1 ½ oz. Amontillado sherry, 1 oz. bourbon (or other spirit of choice), 1 oz. Turmeric Syrup, and ½ oz. fresh lemon juice in a sturdy pint glass or 16-ounce thermos. Top with 8 oz. hot water and stir gently. Garnish with dehydrated lemon wheel if desired.
HOT TODDY
This is a cappuccino-type whisky with vanilla and makes the best bedtime drink. When I come home from work I'm really hyper, so this is great to make me sleepy. The whisky gives the milk a nice little "hum."

Steps:
- Place the water in a mug and microwave on high for 1 minute until very hot (but not boiling). Mix in the whiskey, honey and lemon juice. Drop in a lemon wedge and cinnamon stick, if you like.
HOT TODDY
Whether you're sick in bed or fresh off the slopes, a hot toddy warms everything up. The classic formula of whiskey, sugar and hot water is like the steamy cousin of an old-fashioned, but these days, a lot of other ingredients (citrus juice, apple cider, various spices) get added in the name of innovation, with mixed results. This version cozies up to the original, with a few optional additions based on preference. First, warm the mug with hot water, which primes the vessel to hold heat longer, yielding a truly hot toddy to the last sip. Then add scotch or bourbon, or for a modern twist, rum, cognac or amaro. Stir in a little honey, maple syrup or Demerara sugar, add hot water and stir to dissolve. Garnish with lemon peel and spices, if you like.

- Apples and Oranges. For the best spiked cider, put away the whiskey. This version is flavored with citrusy Grand Marnier and Amaro Averna, plus a little salted butter for a caramel-apple vibe.
- Irish Coffee. We're not sure there's a better hot and boozy drink to serve with dessert this winter. Get This Recipe.
- Chartreuse Hot Cocoa. Known as verte chaud, this beloved combination of herbal liqueur and hot chocolate is far from new. We like it with a quarter-ounce of high-proof bourbon in the mix.
- Hot Toddy. If you have bourbon, honey, lemon, and hot water, you can have a superlative toddy in just a few minutes. Get This Recipe.
- Hot White Russian. The Dude's favorite vodka cocktail is cozy to sip any time, but this hot version, made with a little extra coffee, is particularly nice when it's snowing outside.
- Turmeric Hot Toddy. This hot drink is remarkably flexible. Start with Amontillado sherry, lemon, and a quick turmeric simple syrup, then add hot water and pretty much any spirit.
- Rittenhouse Inn Wassail Punch. Here, the warming flavors of bourbon and hot apple cider are rounded out with cranberry juice, light brown sugar, cloves, allspice, ginger, cinnamon, and white peppercorns.
- Rompope. This creamy egg punch, flavored with almond, cinnamon, and rum or aguardiente, is usually served chilled. But cookbook author María del Mar Cuadra prefers to sip it warm when the weather gets chilly.
