APPLE FRENCH TOAST CASSEROLE
An easy and delicious french toast loaded with sliced apples and baked in a casserole. A yummy breakfast and brunch casserole recipe that you can make ahead and bake when ready!

Steps:
- Thinly slice apple. Cube French bread.
- Grease a 9″x13″ casserole with cooking oil.
- In a large bowl, combine eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and brown sugar. Whisk egg mixture.
- Add 1/2 of the cubed French bread to casserole dish, add 1/2 of the sliced apples, then pour 1/2 of the egg mixture. Add the rest of the French bread, then add the rest of the sliced apples, then the rest of the egg mixture. Remember to spread cubed French bread and sliced apples out evenly.
- Wrap the casserole dish with saran wrap and refrigerate for four hours, or up to overnight.
- In another small bowl, combine all "stresuel" topping and mix well. Refrigerate topping as well for four hours, or up to overnight.
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Unwrap casserole dish. Stir stresuel topping with a spoon. Top casserole dish with the stresuel topping.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the center is fully cooked.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
- Serve with maple syrup and enjoy!

- In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter and corn syrup; cook and stir over medium heat until thickened. Pour into a greased 13x9-in. baking dish; top with half of the pecans, a single layer of bread and remaining pecans. Arrange apples and remaining bread over the top. , In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, salt and nutmeg. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight., Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Steps:
- Melt the butter in a large skillet and add apples.
- Cook and stir for 5 minutes.
- Add brown sugar, water, and cinnamon and continue to cook and stir for 10 minutes until apples are tender.
- Spoon mixture into 13x9 baking dish.
- Cover apples with bread slices, making sure to cover the entire surface.
- Trim the bread to fit if you must.
- Beat eggs until foamy, then beat in milk and vanilla.
- Pour egg mixture over the bread slices.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- In the morning, remove the dish from the refrigerator and let it stand while oven is preheated to 375 F.
- Bake uncovered for 35 minutes, or until bread is golden and firm.
- Let sit 10 minutes before serving.
- To serve on a platter, run a knife around the edges of the casserole, place platter on top of casserole, and carefully flip.
- To serve individually, use a spatula to remove serving, place serving plate on top of serving and carefully flip so apple side is up.

- Place bread in a 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Combine eggs, milk, 1/3 cup sugar and vanilla; pour half over bread. Top with half of the apples. Combine cinnamon, nutmeg and remaining sugar; sprinkle half over apples. Top with the remaining apples. Pour remaining egg mixture over apples and sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture. Dot with butter. Cover and chill 8 hours or overnight. remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 1 hour or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. This is a great make-ahead breakfast that will fill your home with the holiday aromas of cinnamon, spice and apples. It is a "soak overnight" casserole that mimics the flavors of french toast. - In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and add apples. Stir occasionally until tender.
- Add brown sugar and corn syrup.
- Cook over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
- Pour into buttered 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
- Arrange bread slices over apple mixture.
- In bowl, beat eggs, milk, vanilla, salt and cinnamon until blended.
- Pour mixture evenly over mixture in pan.
