I got a Southern Living cookbook from the library and am saving some recipes to 'Zaar so I don't forget...this one sounded good!

1 loaf king's Hawaiian bread
2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
1/2 lb bacon, cooked and crumbled
8 eggs
2 1/2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
salsa or fresh tomato

Steps:

  • Cube the bread and arrange in a grease 13x9-inch pan.
  • Sprinkle with cheese and bacon.
  • Whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, mustard and Worcestershire.
  • Pour over bread.
  • Cover and chill overnight.
  • Let stand 30 minutes before baking at 350° for 35-40 minutes.
  • Serve with salsa or tomatoes.

1 lb. Odom’s Tennessee Pride Country Sausage (mild or hot), cooked, crumbled, and drained
½ loaf of King’s Hawaiian Round Bread, sliced 1-inch thick
6 eggs, beaten
1 cup fat free milk
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 ½ cups (6 oz.) Colby Jack cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease a 9 x 9 baking dish. Arrange bread over bottom of dish. Whisk eggs and milk in mixing bowl until well blended. Season with salt and pepper. Pour half of egg mixture over bread. Sprinkle with half of sausage and half of cheese. Add remaining egg mixture. Sprinkle with remaining sausage and cheese.
  • Bake 20 to 30 minutes or until eggs are set and top is golden brown.Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Makes 6 servings. Recipe can be doubled.

1 pound maple breakfast sausage
8 King's Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
1 1/2 cup shredded cheese of choice (I used cheddar)
8 eggs
1 1/4 cups milk
1/2 cup 100% pure maple syrup
Optional: extra maple syrup and hot sauce

Steps:

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage for 5 to 8 minutes until fully cooked.
  • Cut the King's Hawaiian Sweet Rolls into cubes. Place into a greased/ buttered 9×13 baking dish. Place in a 375 degree oven for 10 minutes, tossing halfway through.
  • Add the cooked sausage and cheese to the dish with the lightly toasted rolls and toss together until evenly combined.
  • In a bowl beat together the eggs, milk, and maple syrup. Pour over top the bread, sausage and cheese. Using the back of a fork, press the rolls down into the egg mixture.
  • Bake in a 375 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Serve with extra maple syrup and/or hot sauce on the side if desired.

We absolutely love this bread. My sister won't buy anything but. It's kinda expensive so when I came across this, I had to add it here so we (Mom, Chris, and I) could always have it and everyone else could enjoy it too. The first time I ever had it, it was with the Spinach Veggie dip...OMGOSH it was DEEEVINE! So...next time you don't wanna spend the money, whip it up yourself! It does take a while...but so worth it!

Number Of Ingredients 9

6 cups all-purpose flour, plus
1/2 cup flour
3 eggs
2 cups pineapple juice
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 (1/4 ounce) envelopes yeast
1/2 cup butter (one stick) or 1/2 cup margarine, melted (one stick)

Steps:

  • Beat the eggs. Add the pineapple juice, sugar, ginger, vanilla, and butter.
  • Place 3 cups of flour in a large bowl. Stir in the egg mixture until well-combined. Sprinkle in the yeast, one packet at a time, and mix.
  • Add the remaining 3 cups of flour and mix in . Blending with a spoon will be hard, so you may have to use your hands. Make sure it is thoroughly combined. Cover the bowl with a cloth and set in a warm place to rise for 1 hour.
  • Remove from the bowl and knead in 1/2 cup flour. Knead about 10 times. Divide into three equal parts.
  • Place in greased and floured loaf pans or shape into rolls. Cover and place in a warm place to rise for 1 hour.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or golden brown.
