HOMEMADE BRATWURST BITES WITH BEER AND HORSERADISH MUSTARD

Homemade Bratwurst Bites with Beer and Horseradish Mustard image

If you have a food processor, you can make sausage from scratch. Adding pork fat to the meat gives these bite-size sausage patties a tender texture. Call your butcher in advance to make sure he sets aside some extra pork fat for you. To help the mixture blend more easily, be sure to freeze the pork pieces before grinding them in the processor. Keep in mind that the sausage needs to chill overnight so that the flavors have time to develop.

HONEY MUSTARD BEER BRATS

Honey Mustard Beer Brats image

This recipe is very easy and makes delicious bratwurst. My guests always ask for these during football season. You won't be able to get enough onions and peppers in the slow cooker because every time we make them, we run out! This recipe is for 10. If you have a very large slow cooker, you can get 15 in, but most can only hold 10 (you may need another slow cooker if making more).

Provided by RICOCHETRABBIT

Time 5h15m

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 10

10 fresh bratwurst sausages
1 green bell pepper, sliced into long strips

2 cloves garlic, sliced
2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
2 cups honey mustard barbecue sauce
1 (12 fluid ounce) can beer, or as needed
10 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise

Steps:

  • Place half of the bratwurst in the bottom of a 5 quart slow cooker. Arrange half of the green pepper, red pepper, and onion over them. Layer the remaining bratwurst over the top, and top with the remaining red and green bell peppers and onion. Throw in the garlic and bay leaves. GRILLED MUSTARD-BEER BRATWURST WITH TOASTED GARLIC BUNS

Grilled Mustard-Beer Bratwurst With Toasted Garlic Buns image

I make these on my outdoor BBQ, they are very good and the beer/mustard sauce makes these brats special! The complete recipe may be doubled if desired. Cooking time is for grilling time. Fully-cooked brats only for this recipe to keep cooking time to a minimum, uncooked will need a longer cooking time.

Provided by Kittencalrecipezazz

Categories     Meat

Time 26m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 13

6 fully cooked bratwursts
1/2 cup beer
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup spicy brown mustard
1/8 teaspoon black pepper (or use cayenne)
6 large hot dog buns, split (use a small soft sub bun for this or large hot dog buns)
1/2 cup soft butter
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
pickle relish
chopped onion
ketchup
mustard

Steps:

  • Cut 4 (1/4-inch deep) slices in each bratwurst (the slits will allow them to soak up the sauce as it cooks and also gives them a nicer appearance).
  • In a saucepan combine beer, brown sugar, mustard and black pepper; cook over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil.
  • Add in bratwurst, then reduce heat to low; cook for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from the beer mixture (RESERVE the beer mixture).
  • Place the brats on the grill; brush generously with the remaining beer/mustard mixture until the brats are browned (about 5-6 minutes).
  • Mix softened butter with garlic powder and salt then spread onto each side of the bun; place on the grill and toast until lightly browned.
  • Place 1 brat onto each bun and top with one or all of the condiments.
  • Delicious!

GRILLED BRATS WITH SRIRACHA MAYO

Grilled Brats with Sriracha Mayo image

I am a Sriracha fanatic, so that's what inspired this dish. You can boil the brats in your favorite beer to reduce the fat and give them flavor before grilling, or spread garlic butter on lightly toasted buns. -Quincie Ball, Olympia, Washington

BRATS IN A BLANKET WITH BEER MUSTARD

Brats in a Blanket with Beer Mustard image

Brats in a blanket take the classic pigs in a blanket appetizer to the next level for dinner! I used fully cooked brats to make this super easy, but fresh brats are delicious if you have time to cook them ahead. Go crazy with your favorite flavors--I used jalapeño-Cheddar brats here!

Provided by Gabriela Rodiles

Categories     main-dish

Time 35m

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

Nonstick cooking spray, for the baking sheet
One 8-ounce tube refrigerated crescent rolls
8 fully cooked brats, such as jalapeño-Cheddar-flavored
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon poppy seeds
1/4 teaspoon sesame seeds
1/2 cup IPA beer
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 cup yellow mustard
2 tablespoons coarse-ground Dijon mustard

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a rimmed baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Carefully unroll and separate 8 of the perforated triangles of crescent dough. Starting with the smaller end of each dough triangle, wrap it around a brat and pinch the seams together to totally seal. Place the wrapped brats on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Beat the egg in a small bowl. Brush the brats with the egg and sprinkle the poppy and sesame seeds on top. Bake until the dough is golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes.
  • To make the beer mustard, add the beer to a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer; simmer over medium heat until reduced by half, about 10 minutes. Add the brown sugar and stir until dissolved, about 1 minute. Add the yellow mustard and Dijon mustard to a small heatproof bowl. Pour in the reduced beer and stir to combine.
  • Serve the brats in a blanket with the beer mustard on the side for dipping.
