1 cup water
5 dried hibiscus flowers or 1 teaspoon crushed dried hibiscus flowers
Ice cubes

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, bring water to a boil. Remove from the heat. Add hibiscus flowers and let stand 5 minutes. Strain tea. Serve in chilled glasses over ice.

6 cups water
1 cup dried hibiscus flowers
1/3 cup superfine sugar

Steps:

  • Bring water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add hibiscus flowers. Remove from heat, and let stand for 1 hour. Strain through a sieve; discard flowers. Stir in sugar. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

8 bags red zinger tea or 8 bags hibiscus tea
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 (25 1/2 ounce) bottle sparkling apple cider, chilled
lemon wedge

Steps:

  • Pour 4 cups boiling water over tea bags.
  • Cover; steep 10 minutes.
  • Discard tea bags.
  • Stir in sugar until dissolved.
  • Chill until ready to serve.
  • Stir in sparkling cider, and serve over ice.
  • Garnish, if desired.

10g whole dried hibiscus flowers
ice and clear honey (optional), to serve

Steps:

  • Boil a kettle of water, then leave for around 1 min to cool to around 90C. Put the flowers in a jug, pour 500ml of the water over the flowers, then leave to steep for 16 mins. This is the optimum time and temperature for extracting the beneficial antioxidants.
  • Strain into glasses over ice and sweeten with a litte honey, if you like.

  • Make lemon syrup: Bring sugar and ½ cup water to a simmer in a small saucepan over medium-high. Cook, stirring often, until sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat; add lemon strips. Let cool for 30 minutes. Remove and discard lemon strips.
  • Stir lemon syrup, lemon juice, and 4 cups water into tea. Refrigerate until cold, about 2 hours. Serve over ice. Store, covered, in refrigerator for up to 3 days.
