The hamburger took a trip to Hawaii and came back with a Hawaiian makeover! Two slices of SPAM® Classic are browned then topped with pineapple and cheese. And instead of wearing a Hawaiian shirt, it's wearing a hamburger bun.

1 (12-ounce) can SPAM® Classic, cut into 8 slices
1 (8-ounce) can pineapple rings, drained
4 hamburger buns, split and toasted
4 slices American cheese

Steps:

  • Brown the SPAM® slices in a skillet.
  • Place 2 SPAM® slices on each bottom half of hamburger bun.
  • Top with a pineapple ring and cheese slice.
  • Cover sandwich with top half of bun.

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 onion slices
2 slices sourdough bread
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
3 slices SPAM (about 1/4-inch thick)
Mayonnaise or mustard, for serving
5 or 6 pickle slices
Lettuce, tomato or pickled jalapenos, optional
Serving suggestion: fries

Steps:

  • In a saute pan, heat oil and saute onions until caramelized, 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Toast bread, either on the grill top or toaster.
  • In a pan with butter, cook SPAM until browned, about 5 minutes per side.
  • Spread your favorite sandwich spread (mustard or mayo) on your toast; I prefer a nice spicy brown mustard. Add SPAM, grilled onions and pickle slices. Add lettuce and tomato or pickled jalapenos if it floats your boat. Sometimes you can switch it up and use RAW ONION, instead of grilled. Go crazy! It's your SPAM; do what you want.
  • Serve with American fries and a cold PBR. YES! AMERICA!

I don't have a clue if this is good or not and I never will. I know that there are a lot of people here that enjoy SPAM and I thought that I'd share this recipe with them. (I'm guessing on the serving size.)

7 ounces Spam
1 lb cheddar cheese
1/3 cup olive, sliced
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup pimentos
15 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Grind SPAM,cheese,olives and pimento together.
  • Add spices and mayonnaise and mix well.
  • Spread on buns or bread and bake at 350' for 10-15 minutes until bubbly.

This is a simple and fast recipe that is great for snacking! Spam is a Hawaiian favorite, and you'll know why after eating these!

10 slices white bread, lightly toasted
½ cup creamy salad dressing, e.g. Miracle Whip ™
1 (12 ounce) container Spam™ sliced into 1/4 inch thick slices
10 slices Cheddar cheese
10 thin pineapple slices

Steps:

  • Spread a thin layer of salad dressing on one side of each slice of bread. Place two slices of Spam side by side on 5 of the slices of bread. They should cover the slices perfectly. Place two slices of cheese over each layer of Spam, so that they cover the whole slice of bread. Place slices of pineapple over the cheese, trimming square to fit the sandwiches. Top with remaining slices of bread with the salad dressing on the inside. Trim the crusts if desired, and cut each sandwich into 4 equal squares.

Spicy Teriyaki Spam® and Pineapple on a Hawaiian Roll image

Cast iron skillet-fried SPAM® and pineapple with sriracha and a splash of lime placed on a King's® Hawaiian roll. This recipe is super yummy, it's sweet and spicy, and ohh so easy. Feel free to alter the thickness or amounts of any of the ingredients to your liking. My 8-year-old son posted the photo. Kid approved and great for a game day party!

9 Hawaiian bread rolls (such as King's®), split
1 (12 ounce) can fully cooked luncheon meat, teriyaki flavor (such as SPAM® Teriyaki)
3 pineapple rings
3 tablespoons sriracha hot sauce
1 tablespoon lime juice

Steps:

  • Set oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven's broiler or set a toaster oven to broil setting. Place rolls cut-side up in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  • Toast rolls in preheated oven until lightly brown, 1 to 3 minutes.
  • Slice luncheon meat lengthwise into nine 1/4-inch thick slices.
  • Heat a cast-iron or non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook luncheon meat slices until lightly browned, about 1 minute per side; transfer to toasted roll bottoms. Cook pineapple rings in the same skillet until lightly browned, 1 1/2 to 2 minutes per side.
  • Spread sriracha evenly on each luncheon meat slice. Cut each pineapple ring into 3 pieces. Top each luncheon meat slice with 1 pineapple piece, sprinkle with lime juice, and cover with roll tops.

  • Budae Jjigae, or “Army Base Stew” I worked in South Korea for 2 years and ate many great dishes there (most of which are waaaay too spicy for a guy raised in Hawaii).
  • The Spamwich. Because of it’s rectangular-size and because it’s so easy to slice, SPAM can easily be used for a sandwich. You can make whatever type of sandwich you want with SPAM, but I highly recommend that you cook your SPAM first.
