2 pounds meat or veggies of choice
½ cup bourbon (see Recipe Notes)
⅓ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
¼ cup balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped or grated
1 teaspoon dried rosemary (or 1 tablespoon freshly chopped)
optional: pinch crushed red pepper flakes
kosher salt & ground black pepper, to season

Steps:

  • Add the bourbon, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, mustard, garlic, rosemary, & crushed red pepper flakes, if using, to a bowl or jar. Season with 2 teaspoons kosher salt & ground black pepper, as desired. Whisk or shake to combine.
  • Pour the bourbon marinade over your meat or veggies of choice. Marinate at least 6 hours or up to overnight.

Delicious marinated steaks you can use either flank steaks or top round steaks. Enjoy. Prep time does not include marinating time.

1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup Bourbon
1/3 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1 cup water
2 flank steaks, well trimmed (about 1 1/2 pounds each) or 2 beef top round steak, about 1 1/2 inches thick (about 1 1/2 pounds each)

Steps:

  • Prepare marinade; In large plastic bag, Mix 1 cup water with all the ingredients except steaks.
  • Add steaks, turning to coat, seal bag, pressing out excess air.
  • Place bag in shallow glass baking dish and refrigerate at least 4 hours or over night, turning bag occasionally.
  • Remove steaks from marinade.
  • Discard marinade.
  • Put steaks on grill over medium heat and cook 15 to 20 minutes for medium-rare or until desired doneness, turning once.
  • (Or preheat broiler and place steaks on rack in broiling pan. Broil steaks at closet position to source of heat for 15 to 20 minutes for medium-rare) If using top round grill or broil for 25 to 30 minutes.

3 tbsps McCormick® Grill Mates® Brown Sugar Bourbon Seasoning
1/4 cup oil
2 tbsps white vinegar
2 tbsps water
2 pounds boneless beef sirloin steak

Steps:

  • Mix Seasoning, oil, vinegar and water in small bowl. Place steak in large resealable plastic bag or glass dish. Add marinade; turn to coat well.
  • Refrigerate 15 minutes or longer for extra flavor. Remove steak from marinade. Discard any remaining marinade.
  • Grill over medium-high heat 6 to 8 minutes per side or until desired doneness.

This is our favorite way to prepare a nice sirloin steak. Time indicated does not include marinade time. This recipe represents the Southern U.S. region where bourbon is enjoyed as a beverage, or used in fabulous recipes.

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup Bourbon (like Jim Beam Bourbon Whiskey)
1/2 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon garlic powder
3 1/2 lbs sirloin steaks (2 1-inch thick steaks)

Steps:

  • Prepare marinade ingredients: Pour water, bourbon, soy sauce, honey, dry mustard, and garlic powder into a large zip top bag. Seal bag and lay flat on the counter. Massage the bag with your fingers to dissolve any mustard and garlic powder granules and mix the ingredients.
  • Add steak to the bag. Refrigerate overnight, or for at least six hours, turning occasionally.
  • Place bag on counter about an hour before grilling. Turn after 30 minutes. Remove steak and discard marinade.
  • For 1" steaks, grill about 10 minutes per side, or until about 140-145 degrees. Remove from grill, and cover steaks for about 10 minutes before serving.
  • Can serve as steaks, or slice thinly across the grain before serving.

Kentucky is famous for it's bourbon/whiskey (it is two different things) and we use it for everything from curing a cough (it is GREAT and I promise I'll post the recipe)to making someone's mood a little happier. This recipe is delicious and works well on grilled beef.

1/4 cup pineapple juice
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon Bourbon (I use more)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup oil

Steps:

  • Combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Place your meat in a zip top bag and pour into the bag. Zip up and refrigerate overnight, turning the bag every so often.
  • Heat the grill to med-high heat and grill as usual. Remove the meat and discard the marinade. Cook as usual.
