MY GRAND MOTHER ALWAYS MADE APPLE RHUBARB PIE AND DUTCH APPLE PIE. SO I THOUGHT I'D MAKE THIS PIE FILLING AND PUT IT UP FOR WHEN I NEEDED A PIE TO TAKE SOMEWHERE LIKE A POT LUCK DINNER ECT.....

Number Of Ingredients 8

- 4 small boxes of raisins
- 1 large stalk of rhubarb. washed amd sliced.
- 2 cups suagr[or to taste]
- 2 teasp apple spice[to taste]
- 1 teasp. vanilla
- 1 large qrt jar and 1 pint jar
- boil all the things u plane to use
- i froze a 1 qrt bag of apples last year and used that. u may use fresh if u like

Steps:

  • BOIL ALL UTISILS ECT.. IN LARGE POT. IN THE LARGE SAUCE PAN. PLACE APPLES AND RAISINS AND CUT UP RHUBARB. AND THEN DICE IN FOOD PROCESSOR. AND EMPTY INTO LARGE POT. ADD 2 CUPS SUGAR[OR TO TASTE] 1 TEASP VANILLA, 2 TEASP APPLE PIE SPICE[OR TO TASTE]
  • STIR TIL ALL IS COMBINED AND IS COOKED DOWN SOME AND IS TENDER IT WILL HAVE A GREAT AROMA.
  • POUR INTO 1 QRT JAR AND FILL TO FIRST RIM THEN SEAL AND PLACE RING LIDS ON TIGHT. THEN POUR THE REST INTO A 1 PINT JAR AND PLACE SEAL ON AND RING LIDS ON TIGHTLY. AND LISTEN FOR THE POPS

- 1 1/2 cups freezdried cherries in bowl
- 1 1/3 cup sugar in bowl w/cherries
- 1/4 cup cherry juice in bowl with cherries
- boil 1 pint canning jar with lids seals ect..
- boil everything ur going to use as well

Steps:

  • PLACE ALL INGREDIENTS IN BOWL [EXCEPT CORN STARCH] TIL CHERRIES PLUMP AND EVERYTHING IS ENCORPERATED IN THE BOWL. POUR INTO LARGE SAUCE PAN
  • LET IT SIMMER FOR A WHILE IT WILL START SMELLING AWESOME[ABOUT 25MINS] THEN ADD CORN STARCH 1 TESP AT A TIME STIR TIL DESOLVED THEN ADD THE 2 TEASP OF CORN STARCH STIR TIL DESOLVED
  • WHEN WELL INCORPERATED TAKE THE LADEL AND PLACE INTO 1 PINT JAR. PLACE SEAL AND RING LID ON TIGHTLY.[WHILE HOT] THEN WAIT FOR THE POP AND ALWAYS LABEL UR JELLIES/JAMS/ PIE FILLINGS, ECT....
  • AND DATE THEM AS WELL

This recipe was given to me 41 years ago by my husband's grandmother.

2 cups raisins
2 cups water
½ cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
1 tablespoon butter
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie

Steps:

  • Combine raisins and water in a small saucepan. Boil 5 minutes. Blend brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and salt together; add to hot raisins. Cook and stir until syrup is clear. Remove from heat, and stir in vinegar and butter or margarine. Cool slightly.
  • Turn filling into a pastry lined pan. Cover with top crust. Seal edges, and cut slits in the top crust.
  • Bake at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) for 30 to 35 minutes.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup shortening
6 tablespoons cold water
FILLING:
5 cups sliced peeled fresh pears
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar, divided
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, mix flour and salt; cut in shortening until crumbly. Gradually add water, tossing with a fork until dough holds together when pressed. Shape into a disk; wrap and refrigerate 1 hour or overnight., Preheat oven to 425°. In a large bowl, toss pears with lemon juice. In a small bowl, mix flour, 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon; add to pear mixture and toss to coat., On a lightly floured surface, roll half of dough into an 1/8-in.-thick circle; transfer to a 9-in. pie plate. Trim crust even with rim. Add filling; dot with butter., Roll remaining dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle. Place over filling. Trim, seal and flute edges. Cut slits in top. Sprinkle with remaining sugar. Bake until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly, 45-50 minutes. Cover edges loosely with foil during the last 20 minutes if needed to prevent overbrowning. Remove foil. Cool on a wire rack.

2/3 cup quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup firm butter or margarine
1 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 tablespoons boiling water
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1/2 cup raisins
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
4 cups sliced peeled pears (about 3 medium)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F. In small bowl, mix oats, 1/2 cup Bisquick mix and the brown sugar. Cut in 1/4 cup firm butter with fork or pastry blender until mixture is crumbly; set aside.
  • In medium bowl, mix 1 cup Bisquick mix and 1/4 cup softened butter. Add boiling water; stir vigorously until very soft dough forms. In ungreased 9-inch glass pie plate, press dough firmly, using fingers dusted with Bisquick mix and bringing dough onto rim of pie plate. Flute edge if desired.
  • In 2-quart saucepan, mix pineapple juice, raisins, cornstarch, nutmeg and ginger. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute; remove from heat. Stir in pears. Spoon into pie plate. Sprinkle with topping.
  • Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until crust and topping are light golden brown.

2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
1/2 cup dark corn syrup
1 1/2 cups raisins
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons butter
pastry for double-crust pie

Steps:

  • In saucepan, mix sugar, cornstarch and salt.
  • Stir in water, corn syrup, and raisins.
  • Cook and stir until bubbly; cook 2 minutes more.
  • Remove from heat; stir in lemon juice and butter.
  • Pour filling into pastry-lined pie plate (filling will be thin).
  • Cover with top crust; cut slits for steam.
  • Bake at 425* for 10 minutes; reduce heat to 375* and bake for 30 more minutes, or until crust is golden brown.
