Number Of Ingredients 8

3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
2 sticks butter - room temperature
3 eggs
1 tsp Almond extract
1 tsp Vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp beaten egg (for top of cake)

Steps:

  • In a large bowl add butter and sugar and mix well. Add vanilla extract and almond extract and continue to mix until well blended.
  • Next add eggs and beat until mixture is creamy. Add flour and mix until it reaches a dough consistency.
  • Add dough into a un-greased 11x7 or 9x12 baking pan. Make sure to press dough into each corners and use spatula to make dough smooth.
  • Add 1tsp of water to 1tsp of beaten egg and Spread on top of dough evenly.
  • Bake at 350° degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until dough is firm to touch.
  • Cool and enjoy!

Light and fluffy icing. Perfect for an angel food cake. You would swear it was a boiled frosting, all the taste, very little effort! I like to change it up a bit and use maple or peppermint extract instead of the vanilla.

1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
½ cup boiling water

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, stir together the white sugar, egg white, vanilla, cream of tartar, and boiling water. Beat using an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. If you have a stand mixer, use the whisk attachment.

2 cups shortening
1/2 cup non-dairy powdered coffee creamer (such as Coffee Mate)
1/2 teaspoon almond extract (can use more to taste)
1/4-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 (32 ounce) package confectioners' sugar, sifted
1/2-3/4 cup water
food coloring, use color of choice

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl beat the shortening creamer and extracts.
  • Gradually beat in the confectioners sugar.
  • Add in enough water (starting with almost 1/2 cup) until frosting reaches desired consistency.
  • Add in food coloring until the desired shade is achieved.

1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
2 c brown sugar
EGG MIXTURE
1 c sour milk
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs beaten

Steps:

  • 1. Mix together flour,cloves,salt,shortening,cinnamon,nutmeg,and brown sugar.Take out 2/3 cup of mixture for topping. To rest of mixture,add milk,baking soda and eggs.Beat well.Pour batter into greased pan;put egg mixture on top of cake and bake in a slow oven 200-300 degrees untill done.
