HONEY SOY GLAZED SALMON RECIPE BY TASTY

Honey Soy Glazed Salmon Recipe by Tasty image

Two words: honey salmon! Sure, it takes a tiny bit of prep work, but once you marinate your salmon, you won't be able to go back. A simple mix of honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger coats and flavors your fish for 30 minutes before you throw it on the pan until the outside is perfectly crispy. Once that's done, you heat up and reduce some extra marinade to make a thick, to-die-for glaze to pour over your filet. Serve with your favorite veggies or rice and enjoy!

Provided by Robin Broadfoot

Categories     Dinner

Yield 2 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

12 oz skinless salmon
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons ginger, minced
½ teaspoon red pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
⅓ cup less sodium soy sauce
⅓ cup honey

Steps:

  • Place salmon in a sealable bag or medium bowl.
  • In a small bowl or measuring cup, mix marinade ingredients.
  • Pour half of the marinade on the salmon. Save the other half for later.
  • Let the salmon marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  • In a medium pan, heat oil. Add salmon to the pan, but discard the used marinade. Cook salmon on one side for about 2-3 minutes, then flip over and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Remove salmon from pan. Pour in remaining marinade and reduce.
  • Serve the salmon with sauce and a side of veggies. We used broccoli.
  • Enjoy!

SOY GINGER SALMON

Soy Ginger Salmon image

Baked Soy Ginger Salmon-An easy, foolproof recipe for moist and flavorful baked salmon with honey soy ginger glaze. Simple, healthy, and delicious!

Provided by Erin Clarke / Well Plated

Categories     Main Course

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 10

3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
2 cloves garlic (minced (about 2 teaspoons))
2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon garlic-chili paste (sriracha, or 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes)
1 pound skin-on salmon fillet* (at room temperature, cut into 3-4 portions)
2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
Chopped green onions (for serving)
Toasted sesame seeds (for serving)

Steps:

  • Place a rack in the center of your oven and preheat to 425 degrees F. Place a large cast-iron skillet or other sturdy, ovenproof skillet on a burner set to high and heat for at least 10 minutes. You want the pan screaming hot or the salmon will stick to it.
  • In a small saucepan, stir together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium high, then remove from heat and stir in the honey and chili paste. Remove a few spoonfuls of the cooked glaze in a separate bowl for serving.
  • Drizzle the salmon with the olive oil and brush so that it is evenly coated. Place the salmon skin-side up on the hot skillet. Let cook for about 3 minutes, totally undisturbed, until the salmon forms a nice crust. When the salmon turns opaque on the sides and starts to turn opaque on top, use a flexible spatula to flip the salmon so that it is skin-side down. Brush or spoon the remaining glaze in the saucepan all over the top. Place the skillet immediately into the oven and let cook for 6 minutes (the salmon will appear a little undercooked in the center but will finish cooking as it rests). Remove from the oven and cover with foil. Let rest 4 to 5 minutes. Serve immediately, topped with reserved glaze, chopped green onion, and sesame seeds.

1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
1 tablespoon Chinese mustard
1 tablespoon Sriracha
2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Measure out the rice and place it into a sieve. Wash it under running water until the water runs clear. Place the rice in a pan with 160ml of cold water. Bring to a boil and let it simmer for 10 minutes with a lid covering it. Turn the heat off, but keep the lid on (important) and let it sit for 30 minutes, untouched. The steam helps create perfect sticky rice.
  • As the rice is sitting off to the side, make the marinade for the salmon. To a jar, add the oil, soy sauce, minced ginger, and minced garlic. Shake it well and pour it over the salmon in a bowl. Let this sit to marinate until everything else is ready.
  • Next, prepare the toppings - edamame, carrot, avocado, pickled ginger, green onion, nori, sesame seeds. Set aside.
  • When the rice is ready, add the rice vinegar and mirin (optional, adds sweetness) and stir well with a wooden spoon. It should be very sticky!

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, vinegar and 3 tablespoons olive oil. Set aside.
  • Heat a large (12-inch) dry cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat for 3 minutes, until it’s extremely hot (a drop of water flicked onto the pan should turn to steam almost immediately.) Meanwhile, pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels, brush both sides with olive oil, and season all over with salt and pepper.
  • When the pan is ready, place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the pan and cook over medium-heat heat without moving for 4 minutes. Using a pair of tongs, wiggle the fillets to loosen the skin from the bottom of the pan, then carefully flip. Lower the heat to medium and cook for 4 to 5 more minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets. Insert a small knife into the thickest part of the salmon to check for doneness. The salmon should be slightly opaque in the center.
  • Transfer to a rimmed plate or serving dish, and pour the glaze over the salmon, making sure to coat the fillets. Sprinkle with the scallions if using and serve hot.Note: I grate the ginger and garlic on a microplane zester. If you don't have one, you can finely mince them with a knife instead.Copyright 2018, Lidey Heuck, All Rights Reserved

  • Place the salmon filets in a large zipped-top bag. Whisk the honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger together in a medium bowl (I added a sprinkle of dried parsley for color– try chopped scallion!). Pour half of this sauce over the salmon filets, coating them thoroughly. Refrigerate for 15 minutes or up to 4 hours.
  • Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or a silicone baking mat. Set aside.
  • Line the marinated salmon filets on the baking sheet. You can hold onto this used marinade– see step 5. Bake for 15-20 minutes depending on thickness (about 10 minutes per 1-inch inch thickness– measured from the thickest part of the filet). You can broil the salmon for the last 3 minutes for crispier edges.
  • Meanwhile, begin steaming the broccoli and reducing the glaze. First, the broccoli: fill a large saucepan with 1 inch of water. If you have a steamer, place it inside. Bring water to a boil. Add the broccoli. Cover and reduce heat to medium. Cook for 6-7 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and tender.
