DUMP CAKE

Dump Cake image

Here's your ultimate guide to one of the easiest desserts out there-dump cake! It's one of the most fun desserts to whip up and comes together so quickly.

Categories     dessert     main dish

Time 1h15m

Yield 12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 can (21 oz.) cherry pie filling
1 can (15 oz.) crushed pineapple
1 box (about 18 oz.) yellow or white cake mix
1 stick margarine
1/2 stick butter
Whipped cream

Steps:

  • Dump cherry pie filling and crushed pineapple into baking dish. Stir together.
  • Sprinkle cake mix over the top of the fruit. Slice margarine and butter and distribute over the surface of the cake mix.
  • Bake this sacrilege at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Then, to redeem yourself and become the person your high school history teacher always wanted you to be, whip some cream and put a dollup on top.Pretend it's cobbler if you want. But most importantly: enjoy! That's all I ask of you.

  • Peach Dump Cake. Recipe: Peach Dump Cake. A can of peaches contains more than just pieces of fruit—the sweet syrup is infused with rich peach flavor and is just the right liquid ingredient to cook into a yellow cake mix.
  • Apple Pie Cake. Recipe: Apple Pie Cake. When you don't feel like fussing over pie crusts, try this one-dish cake recipe that's just a sugary sweet as Grandma's beloved apple pie recipe.
  • Cherry Dump Cake. Recipe: Cherry Dump Cake. Bypass the usual canned cherry pie filling and choose canned whole, pitted cherries to make this process quick and easy.
  • Pumpkin Dump Cake. Recipe: Pumpkin Dump Cake. This dump cake veers off the traditional path by using a can of pumpkin puree instead of a pie filling. Velvety in texture and both savory and sweet in flavor, pure pumpkin puree requires a few more ingredients to make it set into a delicious filling before being topped with boxed cake mix and butter.
  • Peach Cobbler. Recipe: Peach Cobbler. Although it has cobbler in its title, this recipe still calls for boxed cake mix in the crumble, and it couldn't be any simpler to make.
