Number Of Ingredients 11

2 c all purpose flour
1 c sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp ground ginger
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tsp ground cloves
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
½ c honey
1 c boiling water

Steps:

  • 1. In a large bowl, mix the first nine ingredients together. Add honey and boiling water and stir together.
  • 2. Pour the batter into a greased 9x5" loaf pan and bake in a preheated 350º oven for one hour.
  • 3. Cool in pan for 10 minutes and then turn out of pan and cool on a wire rack.

250 g honey
200 g sugar
1/4 liter milk
500 g flour
1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
3 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon cardamom
1 teaspoon cinnamon
lemon rind

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Grease a bread pan.
  • Stir together all dry ingredients.
  • Slowly heat up honey and sugar on a low flame.
  • Then add milk while stirring honey mixture.
  • Heat up but do not boil.
  • Now add the warm liquid honey/milk mixture to the dry ingredients and stir well.
  • Put it all into the greased bread pan.
  • Bake at 350 F for approximately 40 minutes.
  • Turn off the oven and leave cake in for another 5 - 10 minutes.
  • Honey Cake needs to be stored in a cool and moist place, The best place would be a moist stone pot in which you put a slice of bread, to keep it moist.

2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup 2% milk
2 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
2 large eggs, room temperature
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup canola oil
GLAZE:
1/3 cup confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons 2% milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar and milk. Cook and stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat., In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. In another bowl, whisk eggs, honey, oil and brown sugar mixture until blended. Add to flour mixture; stir just until moistened., Transfer the batter to a greased 8x4-in. loaf pan. Bake 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean (cover top loosely with foil if needed to prevent overbrowning)., Cool in pan 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. In a small bowl, stir glaze ingredients until smooth; drizzle over bread. Freeze option: Securely wrap cooled loaf in foil and then freeze. To use, thaw at room temperature. Glaze as directed.

2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup skim milk (or reduced fat)
1/2 cup honey
1 egg
1/3 cup brown sugar (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Spray a 9x5 loaf pan with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl combine first 7 ingredients (and sugar if using) and mix well.
  • In a small bowl whisk together milk, honey and egg.
  • Add milk mixture to flour mixture, stir together.
  • Spoon batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake until a toothpick comes out clean in the center, about 50 minutes in my oven.
  • Place pan on wire rack to cool for 10 minutes, then turn loaf out onto rack to cool completely.
  • To make a glaze for the bread use 3 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoons margarine and 2 teaspoons packed brown sugar. Microwave on HIGH until melted, then spoon over warm bread.

Number Of Ingredients 4

3 to 3-1/2 cups (125 grams per cup) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups water (70° to 75°)

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, whisk 3 cups flour, yeast and salt. Stir in water and enough remaining flour to form a moist, shaggy dough. Do not knead. Cover and let rise in a cool place until doubled, 7-8 hours., Preheat oven to 450°; place a Dutch oven with lid onto center rack and heat for at least 30 minutes. Once Dutch oven is heated, turn dough onto a generously floured surface. Using a metal scraper or spatula, quickly shape into a round loaf. Gently place on top of a piece of parchment., Using a sharp knife, make a slash (1/4 in. deep) across top of loaf. Using the parchment, immediately lower bread into heated Dutch oven. Cover; bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake until bread is deep golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped, 15-20 minutes longer, partially covering if browning too much. Remove loaf from pan and cool completely on wire rack.
