Steps:
- 1. In a large bowl, mix the first nine ingredients together. Add honey and boiling water and stir together.
- 2. Pour the batter into a greased 9x5" loaf pan and bake in a preheated 350º oven for one hour.
- 3. Cool in pan for 10 minutes and then turn out of pan and cool on a wire rack.
GERMAN HONEY BREAD (BAKED IN A LOAF PAN)
The best reminder of a German Christmastime for me. Really good with butter on each slice. Gets better after a few days wrapped in foil.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Grease a bread pan.
- Stir together all dry ingredients.
- Slowly heat up honey and sugar on a low flame.
- Then add milk while stirring honey mixture.
- Heat up but do not boil.
- Now add the warm liquid honey/milk mixture to the dry ingredients and stir well.
- Put it all into the greased bread pan.
- Bake at 350 F for approximately 40 minutes.
- Turn off the oven and leave cake in for another 5 - 10 minutes.
- Honey Cake needs to be stored in a cool and moist place, The best place would be a moist stone pot in which you put a slice of bread, to keep it moist.

- Preheat oven to 325°. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar and milk. Cook and stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat., In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. In another bowl, whisk eggs, honey, oil and brown sugar mixture until blended. Add to flour mixture; stir just until moistened., Transfer the batter to a greased 8x4-in. loaf pan. Bake 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean (cover top loosely with foil if needed to prevent overbrowning)., Cool in pan 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. In a small bowl, stir glaze ingredients until smooth; drizzle over bread. Freeze option: Securely wrap cooled loaf in foil and then freeze. To use, thaw at room temperature. Glaze as directed.

- Preheat oven to 350.
- Spray a 9x5 loaf pan with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl combine first 7 ingredients (and sugar if using) and mix well.
- In a small bowl whisk together milk, honey and egg.
- Add milk mixture to flour mixture, stir together.
- Spoon batter into prepared pan.
- Bake until a toothpick comes out clean in the center, about 50 minutes in my oven.
- Place pan on wire rack to cool for 10 minutes, then turn loaf out onto rack to cool completely.
- To make a glaze for the bread use 3 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoons margarine and 2 teaspoons packed brown sugar. Microwave on HIGH until melted, then spoon over warm bread.

- In a large bowl, whisk 3 cups flour, yeast and salt. Stir in water and enough remaining flour to form a moist, shaggy dough. Do not knead. Cover and let rise in a cool place until doubled, 7-8 hours., Preheat oven to 450°; place a Dutch oven with lid onto center rack and heat for at least 30 minutes. Once Dutch oven is heated, turn dough onto a generously floured surface. Using a metal scraper or spatula, quickly shape into a round loaf. Gently place on top of a piece of parchment., Using a sharp knife, make a slash (1/4 in. deep) across top of loaf. Using the parchment, immediately lower bread into heated Dutch oven. Cover; bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake until bread is deep golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped, 15-20 minutes longer, partially covering if browning too much. Remove loaf from pan and cool completely on wire rack.

- Combine all of the dry ingredients in the bowl of a stand mixer. (You can do this by hand if you prefer.) Then add the yeast mixture along with the buttermilk and beer. - Scoop the batter (it will be thick and gooey but not like regular bread dough) into a generously buttered 13x4x4 Pullman loaf pan and smooth the top to even it out. Sprinkle with oats. (Note: Baking this bread in a Pullman loaf pan yields those nice small, square slices of bread. But it also helps ensure that the center of the bread is fully cooked.) I always bake this without the lid on.
