I love this because I always have leftover bread and it goes to waste most of the time. The best part is that you can pull out as many pieces as you want and bake them straight from the freezer!

½ cup butter, softened
⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried parsley
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 (1 pound) loaf Italian bread, cut into 1 inch slices

Steps:

  • Mix butter, Parmesan cheese, parsley, and garlic powder in a bowl. Arrange Italian bread on a large baking sheet and spread each slice with garlic butter mixture. Place baking sheet in freezer and freeze until bread solid, about 1 hour. Transfer bread to a resealable plastic freezer bag until ready to use.
  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Arrange desired number of slices, butter-side up, on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in preheated oven until bread is toasted and butter is melted, 5 to 7 minutes.

1 (1 pound) loaf Italian bread
5 tablespoons butter, softened
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon dried oregano
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat the broiler.
  • Cut the bread into slices 1 to 2 inches thick.
  • In a small bowl, mix butter, olive oil, garlic, oregano, salt and pepper. Spread the mixture evenly on the bread slices.
  • On a medium baking sheet, arrange the slices evenly and broil 5 minutes, or until slightly brown. Check frequently so they do not burn.
  • Remove from broiler. Top with cheese and return to broiler 2 to 3 minutes, until cheese is slightly brown and melted. Serve at once.

1/3 cup butter, softened
12 slices bread
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Cut each slice in half; place plain side down on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with garlic salt and Parmesan cheese. Broil 4 in. from the heat until lightly browned, 1-2 minutes.

Given the option, I'd eat nothing but bread. And this recipe uses my favorite ingredient: flaked sea salt! Yum!

4 slices whole grain bread
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 -2 tablespoon light margarine
1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning
1 teaspoon fresh parmesan cheese, grated
1 garlic clove, crushed
paprika
flaked sea salt

Steps:

  • Turn on broiler.
  • Place bread in single layer on sheet of foil. (I use toasted oat bread or whole wheat).
  • In small saucer or bowl, mix olive oil, margarine, Italian seasoning, garlic, and Parmesan.
  • Brush or spoon mixture over each piece of bread.
  • Sprinkle lightly with paprika.
  • Place 4-6" under broiler.
  • ***Watch Closely*** it can quickly go from browned to burnt if you're not paying attention. Cook 2-3 minutes & remove from oven when edges begin to brown.
  • Sprinkle lightly with flaked sea salt (I use pink Australian salt, but if you don't have any, a light sprinkling of regular table salt will do).
  • Serve!

1 head garlic
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
1 cup grated Parmesan
2 teaspoons chopped oregano
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 baguette sliced in half lengthwise, then crosswise

Steps:

  • Cook cloves from 1 head garlic in 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter in a small covered saucepan over medium-low heat until golden brown and very soft, 15-20 minutes. Transfer to a medium bowl; let cool.
  • Add 1 cup grated Parmesan, 2 teaspoons chopped oregano, 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest, and 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes to garlic and mash to a paste; season with salt.
  • Heat broiler. Slice a baguette in half lengthwise, then crosswise. Broil, cut side down, on a foil-lined baking sheet until golden brown, about 2 minutes (watch carefully). Let cool slightly, then spread cut side with garlic paste. Broil until cheese is golden and bubbling, about 2 minutes. Slice.

4-6 garlic cloves , crushed
handful parsley , chopped
2 tbsp finely grated Parmesan (or vegetarian alternative)

Steps:

  • Slice the bread in half lengthwise. Toast the crust side for 2 mins until really crispy. Mix together butter, garlic and parsley in a bowl. Spread over the cut bread halves. Sprinkle over the Parmesan. Just before serving place on a baking sheet, then cook under a hot grill for 5 mins until toasty and lightly golden. Let it cool for 1 min before cutting into thick slices.

6 slices French bread, 1/2-inch thick

  • Melt butter in 10-inch skillet until sizzling.
  • Stir in cayenne pepper and garlic.
  • Dip both sides of each bread slice in melted butter and place in same skillet, cut side down.
  • Cook over medium heat, watching closely until bread is lightly browned about 2-3 minutes.
  • Reduce heat to low.
  • Turn bread over and sprinkle each slice with about 1 tablespoons of cheese.
  • Cover; continue cooking until cheese is melted, 1-2 minutes.
  • Serve immediately.
