Categories     Dessert

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 1/4 cups (213 grams) semisweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 stick (113 grams) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup (200 grams) light brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon fine salt
1 cup (127 grams) all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line an 8 by 8-inch pan with foil or parchment. Spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  • In a small saucepan set over low heat combine the condensed milk, chocolate chips, and butter. Heat, stirring often, until melted and smooth. Let cool.
  • In a large bowl stir together the butter and sugar. Stir in the egg and vanilla until smooth. Add in the salt and flour and stir until just combined. The mixture will be thick.
  • Spread half of the batter into the bottom of the prepared pan. Scoop and flatten the fudge mixture evenly over the dough. It doesn't have to be perfect. Spread the remaining batter over the fudge evenly to cover completely.
  • Bake for 25 minutes, or until lightly golden on the outside but still fudgy and moist on the inside. It's better to under-bake than over-bake here! Let cool completely before cutting.

THE BEST BLONDIES

The Best Blondies image

What's a brownie without chocolate? A blondie, of course! Make it your own by adding your choice of dried fruits, nuts, and yes, even chocolate!

Provided by Ben S.

Categories     Desserts     Cookies     Brownie Recipes     Blondie Recipes

Time 1h

Yield 24

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 cups cake flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
¾ teaspoon salt
¾ pound unsalted butter
3 cups packed light brown sugar
3 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Adjust oven rack to lowest position; heat to 325 degrees. Spray a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with vegetable cooking spray. Fit a12-by-18-inch piece of heavy-duty foil into the pan so you can use the foil overhang as a handle to pull baked blondies from the pan; coat foil with cooking spray.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl. Then, heat butter and brown sugar in a large pan until bubbling hot. Whisk eggs and vanilla in a large bowl. Slowly whisk hot sugar mixture, then dry ingredients, into eggs. Stir in optional add-ins (if using chocolate, let batter cool slightly first).
  • Scrape batter into prepared pan, then bake until blondies are just set, about 45 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool for five minutes. Pull blondies from the pan using foil handles and set on a wire rack. Cool completely before cutting into 24 pieces.

Categories     Bar Cookie

Time 45m

Yield 16-32 bars

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup packed light brown sugar or 2/3 cup dark brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Grease and flour a 9 x 13 baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and both sugars until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, then the vanilla until smooth and well blended.
  • In another bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add to the creamed mixture just until combined; do not overmix.
  • Spread half the batter in the prepared pan.
  • Stir together the melted chocolate and condensed milk to form a fudge-like mixture; spread in an even layer over the batter.
  • Cover with the remaining batter.
  • (The easiest way to do this is to drop little mounds of dough over the filling. Then, using your fingertips, pinch the pieces together until they make a fairly even layer. You won't be able to cover the filling completely--that's okay.) Bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick tests done.
  • Cool on a wire rack before cutting into bars.
