MY VERY OWN FRESCAVENA - OATMEAL DRINK
Frescavena is an oatmeal beverage very common in latinamerica. I was a bit put off by the high amounts of sugar in the commercial version, yet I liked the idea of having a creamy and nutritious quick drink for my children. This is our favourite version so far

Steps:
- Process the oatmeal and sugar in batches in a coffee grinder. This assures a fine powder that will dissolve easily.
- If using freeze dried strawberries process them in the coffee grinder too.
- Put everything in a suitable container, give it a couple shakes.
- When ready to serve add 1 tbsp of mix to a cup of warm milk (for extra creamy) or water and mix. For better results or for drinking it cold use a blender.

OATMEAL DRINK
This recipe was adopted during the Zaar Adoption Feb 2005. Below in brackets is the original description. I have tweaked (on 4 February 2006) this recipe a tad to match my weekday breakfast of oatmeal. I hope you will like it. (This is kinda like the mexican drink called Horchata, except you use oatmeal instead. It's really good and easy to make for a nice hot day.)

FRESCAVENA-LIKE OATMEAL DRINK MIX
Similar to the popular Latin American drink from Quaker "Frescavena". This oatmeal based beverage is nutritious and refreshing. My 18 month old daughter loves it and after not finding it anywhere in stores I had to come up with a way to make it myself EASILY. I love this because I can keep it on hand and scoop it into a glass of milk and its ready to go!

Steps:
- Empty 8 oz box of infant cereal into food processor. Using this cereal instead of rolled oats produces a finer grain that more easily dissolves in liquid, plus it is fortified with more vitamins and minerals.
- Blend until the flakes are no longer visible and it becomes a fine powder (3-5 minutes).
- Add sugar and blend again until it is mixed thoroughly and all the same fine powder consistency.
- Add 2 tablespoons (add more or less to taste) of mixture to 8 ounces of milk or water and blend in a blender or shaker cup with 2 ice cubes and enjoy!
- Optional additions: add vanilla, cinnamon or strawberry quick to final beverage. Can be served as a warm beverage as well.
